More about Langkawi Boutique Resort

Good indian Food.

by RakeshKapadnis about Tomato Nasi Kandar

Tomato Nasi Kandar, (Opposite Langkawi Boutique Hotel). Typical budget Indian food establishment with patrons all day (and night!) long. Very crowded even in the wee hours of the morning. They serve an enormous variety of dishes, from the flavoured roti varieties to naan, briyani and kebabs. The standard is quite high - to an extent where the meal is extremely value-for-money. The only problem is that their waiters are exceedingly bad at taking orders. RM1-3 for roti, RM 4-10 for main dishes. edit Rotis, fish curry, chicken curry, papadams, omlet.

Langkawi Boutique Resort - no reviews found

by Janemei

Hi all
just wondering if anyone's stayed in Langkawi Boutique Resort, think aka Sherwood Langkawi Boutique Resort? Good area? Clean? Found a great price online for it but thought I double check that it's not a dud?
Many thanks.

The only one I could see was this: Not much else on it. Did you try searching Yahoo Malaysia ?

Hi,the only thing about the hotel that I think u should know is that it is not by the beach. It is across the road from the beach. Chenang is littered with chalets on the beach, why not choose one?

All all, just returned from this hotel. Unfortunately it was not very satisfactory. Not sure if due tot he low season, it was empty. Staff were plentiful but not doing much. It is not on the beach but across fromt he beach. Breakfast vouchers were given but no breakfast was available. Apparently this is more suited for the conference type accommodation but can't imagine companies would want their staff to sleep on yellow stained sheets.

New resort

Has anyone stayed at the Sherwood Langkawi Boutique Resort? I read its review and it looks good.

No its not a new resort. It was once Havana Resort. I stayed there a few years back and the service was bad. I sweared I would never go to that place again. Try another resort if you can.

Accommodation in Lankawi

by Bozydugger

Hi, can anyone recommend accommodation in Langkawi. Mid-range budget, preferably on the beach. I'll be travelling with my girlfriend so if it were in on a quieter beach, it wouldn't be a problem. If anyone's kind enough to help me out on this I'd be very grateful.

Many thanks

I don't know what you call mid-range and what you call quiet. There is Berjaya which is away from other resorts, not too expensive, but a touch upmarket. At Pantai Cenang and Pantai Tengah there are lots of beach-front or near beach (across the road) resorts ranging in price from US$20 per night upwards. These include Nadias Inn, Casa Del Mar (more expensive), Beach Garden Resort, Langkawi Boutique Resort, Federal Villa, and Holiday Villa Beach resort. Both Pantai Cenang and Pantai Tengah beaches are quiet compared to beaches in Thailand or even Vietnam nowadays. There are plenty of local cafes there as well. Have a great break, my wife and I love Langkawi. Cheers, Steve

I recommend AB Motel located at Pantai Cenang, the price is around 35USD. Its a very basic room with two queen size bed, air-con, TV, balcony. I have been stay there twice, so far so good. The Motel also provide car rental service, island hopping at reasonable rate. Get the room at beach side as they also have room near road side which is cheaper. Take a look at the review in tripadvisor:)

I have stayed at AB Motel and found it fine but it depends on your expectations: this is motel accommodation not 5-star.

Travel Tips for Pulau Langkawi

SD Cards, Memory sticks

by bkarjee

If you wish to travel to Langkawi by the regional budget airlines Air Asia, make sure you dont carry heavy luggage. They dont allow to check in more than 15 kg per person. Hand Baggage allowance is same as other airlines-7 Kg Being a warm and humid place, light clothings -those which can easily dry up are preferable for this place. For going around the islands and island hopping, avoid shoes. Chinos would be ideal. A lot of people had adviced us to carry mosquito repellants, but we didnt come across mosquitoes in the hotel rooms. Sometimes during a jungle trek or while going to waterfalls, we did encounter few mosquitoes, but that's normal. Patches would be sufficient for this. Memory sticks, SD Cards, spare rechargable batteries for the camera is a must. There are internet kiosks all over the island but they may or may not have CD Writing solutions to copy the images from your Camera Memory sticks, SD Cards to the CD Carry your driving License if you plant to rent a car

GO BACK IN TIME....Visit Tuba Island, off Langkawi

by west_islander

If you are in Langkawi, do consider visiting Tuba Island. Although only about 2 miles from the main island of Langkawi, Tuba is relatively less developed, offering tourist the chance to experience the charm of Langkawi yesteryears. Getting there is easy as there are regular taxi boats services from Kuah Jetty at RM4-RM5/pax one way. Basic transport service is available for round island trip or 'town' transfer from Tuba Jetty. Should one wish to stay overnight, there are 3 small chalets around : Tok Janggut's being the best while the other 2 are operated by locals 'Pulau Twobar' operators. Else, try Tuba Homestay (ask for Pak Arck@ Abu Bakar Man) The best produce of the island is FRESH and relatively cheap shrimp, crabs and cuttlefish. Give it a try......

Sandy Skull Beach

by kyoub

Pantai Pasir Tengkorak is translated as Sandy Skull Beach, it is suggested that once upon a time there was a bloody battle between the locals and the invaders for the possession of this part of Langkawi. There is also a legend about a ship wreck happening here with bones being found on the beach.
What ever happened here it is now a very nice park and the beach is never crowded.

local products in langkawi

by eelaine

other than being a duty free island, langkawi also have a lot of locally produced items to offer.. some of which are not available anywhere else.. some of the local products worth looking at is this healing ointment called gamat.. it's actually made of sea cucumber.. the story goes that a long time ago, a fisherman stepped on one of these creatures and had his legs glued with the sitcky white secretion from the sea cucumber.. in his frustration, he took an axe and hacked up all the sea cucumber around him.. the next morning, he found that all the hacked up sea cucumber are all healed and whole again.. that gave him the idea.. if the sea cucumber could heal itself, then it should also be able to heal people’s wounds.. thus, the “minyak gamat” industry began..

other than that, other items to consider buying is batik sarong, t-shirt, crytal, marble, etc.
