5 star but motel standard...

Bad (2.0 of 5.0 stars)
by written on April 30, 2007

We were there for two nights and had a room facing the paddy fields and some hills, it was quite alright. The room was not bad and no bugs but TV channels are crap! Reception was so bad and was not helping when you need to lay down and relax in the room. No room service menu provided!

The beach was really a crap too!!! It is a man made beach!!!! muddy, lots of dangerous hidden sharp rocks in the water, can't swim during low tide and jellyfish!!!! Not a place you want to be if you fancy beaches..............

Location is a bit off from the tourist spot, you need to have a transport to move around other wise you gonna have to use public transport which nowhere to be found, and if there's any, it's gonna rip you pocket off!!! But, very near to the airport (10 minutes or less).

We did not spend much of our time in the resort but breakfast buffet was BLOODY HORRIBLE!!!!!!! We were at the restaurant at 8.30am and foods are 80% taken and NO REPLENISHMENT!!!! We waited for nearly and hour and gave up after a few reminders to the reception to re-fill the buffet line.....

Generally, not a place to go to unless you do not have anyplace else in Langkawi.

Stilt houses with a difference!

Great (4.0 of 5.0 stars)
by written on January 6, 2007

This resort has hotel suites and the extraordinary Sea Village which is constructed on stilts in typical Malay architecture style. The hotel suites are near to a spectacular swimming pool while the Sea Village is built within a sanctuary of calm waters protected by a spectacular breakwater arching out to the sea.

We had the opportunity to stay at the beautiful Sea Village - at one of the units facing the sea view. This gives an awesome sunset view when you are seated at the balcony - seated here during the evening is simply relaxing and rejuvenating.
The staff in this resort are simply charming people.
To see more of the resort layout, please log on to my travelogue entitled "Langkawi Lagoon Resort - paradise of its own".

Unique Quality: - very near to the airport - about 5minutes drive. (This is only an advantage if you intend to stay put at the hotel as if you wish to move to Kuah Town, you will need to drive at least 30mintes)
- good ambience, good sauna and steam facilties
- helpful hotel staff
- and of course, the Sea Village is simply lovely...

Directions: After exit from airport, take the left turn and comes to a junction. Take left and drive for about 5minutes.

The Magical Island Of Langkawi
Set on the waters of the Melaka, the north western shore of Peninsular Malaysia, Langkawi Island beckons to you its magical allure of legends, adventures, sandy beaches, and its beckoning waters. Mesmerise yourself with the island's rustic charm and its ancient rainforests, where both land and marine flora and fauna dwell.

Whether you are an adventurous person or a romantic at heart, there is just the perfect activity for you to enjoy in Langkawi.

LOCATION
Located on the west coast of the Langkawi Island, just 3 KM or approximately 5 minutes drive from the Langkawi International Exhibition Centre, Langkawi Lagoon offers remarkable views of the ocean and the sight of rolling hills nearby.

The cover is better than the book

Terrible (1.0 of 5.0 stars)
by written on April 16, 2004

I chose this hotel after going through the various accommodation on the internet. The website was quite impressive so i decided to book a 3 nite stay. Even though I paid the package rate, I still felt that I had overpaid for the accommodation that was nowhere near as good as it had advertised itself. The quite large room was better if it was carpeted & the bed has no headboard only placed against the wall plus there was no extra daybed as advertised and there was no sign of any hairdryer. The bathroom was pathetic, barely any counter space to put your stuff on. It was supposed to be a 4 star resort but it barely deserve a 3 star.
The breakfast buffet was boring, not much selection and we had the same selection everyday. Buffet dinner wasn't any better. Food was cold even those that was supposed to be served warm. Housekeeping is terrible, room not throughly clean, stingy with bath soap, rubbish in the hallways and ashtrays are hardly cleared. I threw some rubbish in waste bin in the corridor on my first day and I can still see it uncleared on my third day. Hotel goes out of its way to cut cost ; staircase not lighted, guests are encourage to dine outside coffee house by placing the buffet tables outside so aircond is off in the dining room, ceiling fans in the lobby is always turned off even when it is stiffling hot.

Unique Quality: The beach is manmade and full of small sharp pebbles. The ocean floor is very yucky. Hardly anyone ventures to swim in the sea and after taking a dip there I was informed by another hotel guest that the sea there sometimes have seasnakes and jellyfish. The pool was okay except that there were sometimes not enough deck chairs and the towel staff is constantly missing and I have never seen their lifeguard. No shady trees so it was very hot around the pool and beach.
Overall it was a lousy resort, not worth the price we had to pay for. I don't recommend this place to anybody. PLEASE look elsewhere to stay !
