Well... we had no idea when we book the hotel from the ferry harbour (jetty), just looked thru the pictures, we dicided to book for 2 nights. Anyway.... Its a bit pricy, but worth to pay with all the facilities inside such as fridge, hot/cold shower, air con, tv, drinking water and towels.
Room for 2 people cost 120RM per night, Bungalow cost 140RM per night. It was not easy to get the bungalow because most of them were fully booked!
Its just on the beach, especially all of the bungalows face into the sunset! make great view every evening!
Oh, one more thing, they dont have double bed for room (2 people), all rooms are twin sharing (2) or 2 double beds (4 people)
Really liked the location as it is 5 minutes from the ferry jetty to Kedah and Penang and the main town itself Kuah.
However the better beaches are away, 15 to 20 minutes drive. The hotel does have an outdoor swimming pool. Be careful of security as some of my friends had their rooms broken in some time ago.
Although this hotel is out from the centre of town it was ideally located for a relaxing holiday. There was a taxi stand at the front gate & the hotel supplied you with the fixed prices charged for trips which was really helpful. Along the street there was a number of restaurants that opened on different days of the week as it was the quiet season. There was a little food store & you could also buy clothes, shoes & icecreams just outside. The hotel had its own store & the prices were reasonable as Langkawi is a duty free island.
The hotel had a huge pool which was good as it was really too rough to swim at the beach. It also had a jacuzzi & a swim up bar. There were a number of restaurants but the food out in the streets was unbelieveably cheap & yummy. They didn't hassle anyone who brought their own drinks down to the pool.
Many of Bon Ton’s guests are people seeking to escape the hustle and bustle of their everyday lives. Why do people keep coming back? Because Bon Ton allows guests to escape to the simplicity of kampung (village) life. Resort owner, Narelle McMurtrie, treats guests like part of the family, in a friendly relaxed atmosphere. And yet a sense of style pervades the whole experience. It was truly a once in a lifetime experience...
The five restored century-old Malay houses are decorated with antique furniture and textiles. They are surrounded by coconut palms and look out on to a deep-blue oblong pool with a Jacuzzi at one end. You can sip a mango margarita at the bar or take a class at the onsite Langkawi Cookery School.
The Bon Ton also houses one of the best restaurants to be found on the island. The barbecue rock lobster was wonderful, as was the baked snapper served on mango rice.
I didnt actually stay here but i knew some of the guys working there in the pool bar. Asceana Hotel has one of the nicest swimming pools in langkawi and is worth the stay just to use the pool.
The bar tenders, at the pool bar, will serve you a number of beautiful cocktails, and play beautiful music.
Gecko is a join run venture by a western woman called Rebecca who set up this hostel/guesthouse in order to bring in the backpackers. Its set just off the beach, altho its only a 2 minute walk and you're there and it has a wicked bar which at night can get really busy and has a relaxed atmosphere as well. Theres a choice of both bungalows with bathroom and theres rooms with shared rooms. We found the cheapest rooms at Langkawi here, and also the best ones!!
Gecko has a couple of bar men who work there who will entertain you all day with their stories and antics. Miss them!!
Ask for Rebecca!
This place has best location on all Chenang Beach. Reggy Bar ( :) ) in next to it. Wonderful brakefast is made just infron of it. Many shops around, but it's tipical for this area. Best beach part around - that's true! Actualy is only good place for swimming, coz others are ether less than 1m or with many rocks and stowns or else...
This hotel was included in a deal from a tour operator that included transfers and the ferry price so we didn't choose it ourselves. It was fine though and had a great swimming pool and is less than a 5 minute walk to the beach of Pantai Tengah.
Apparently it has the longest swimming pool in Malaysia. The downside was that the room smelt a bit damp and musty.
There are a selection of restaurants and bars at the hotel. The Grove where there is a nightly themed buffet as well as an amazing breakfast, the Bayu lounge for light snacks, tapas and cocktails, the poolside bar and the fun pub "Someplace else". Our favourite restaurant at the hotel was the Sambar Ria where you could sit at the edge of the beach and watch the sunset whilst enjoying the terrific food. The duck with biriyani rice was my favourite whilst Gary was addicted to the lamb shank rendang with risotto rice. He even had 2 one night!
Although the beach in front of the hotel is not one of the best I have seen, the views from the terraces are quite spectacular lloking over the islands in the bay. All in all we had a really enjoyable stay at the Sheraton Perdana and would stay again when we return to Langkawi.
The Sheraton Perdana is just outside Kuah town and within walking distance from jetty point, Eagle square and Langkawi Fair-the islands biggest shopping mall.
The hotel is lovely with a beautiful landscaped gardens and a great choice of restaurants and facilities. The rooms are everything you would expect in a five star hotel.
This picture doesn't really do the hotel justice but if you double click to expand it-you will get more of an idea.

We arrived on the Ferry from Penang and thought we would try a beach chalet. However, they did not have any air conditioned rooms left and this one with a fan was awful. However, only £9 a night so you can't really complain.
