Cabanas Haven
The hotel only features cabanas which are stand alone units. Some of them are located near the beach so you will be waking up to the sun and the crashing waves of the beach.
The cabanas are clean with air-conditioning and have all the contemporary facilities.

At the foothills of Gunung Mat Cincang
This resort is located between the foothills of Mat Cincang hill and Burau Bay; occupies 19-acres of land.
Have heard many mixed reviews about this cabana style resort, some good, some bad, so I will have to find out for myself this December.
Overall, the stay here was enjoyable.

in the forest, by the bay
I really enjoyed the mutiara burau bay... there are no large and grey concrete buildings but, instead, 150 individual cabanas... cosy and located in undisturbed coastal rainforest, some on Burau Bay while others in Pantai Kok. You can guess that the resort is fairly large.
Garden view cabanas cost RM 410.00 per night, while sea view cabanas cost RM 450.00. Somehow cabana 1123, whilst considered garden view, is a few metres from the sea has a side sea-view.
Unique Quality: The cabanas are on stilts, very cosy and the bed is incredibly comfortable - each cabana has a small balcony or patio with a small table and two chairs. There's air-con, a minibar, a hair-dryer and tea/coffee making facilities.
What I liked best, however, was the garden... full of colourful flowers and with plenty of animals: monkeys (2 different types), iguanas, lizards, geckos, squirrels, hens, cats and butterflies. If you are woken up in the morning by a loud tump on your roof, don't worry... nothing is happening: it's the monkeys playing on your roof.
There are several types of birds - including a vicious and ultra-noisy cicada... Shoot...

Nice beach quiet hotel
Nice family cabana with quiet beach of Pantai Kok and a fun family size swimming pool. Walking distance to the Seven Wells and with the wonderful backdrop of hills in the background and the sea in front.
Located 15 minutes west rom Langkawi International airport. Disadvantage, some distance to the main town of Kuah.

Exotic and Fun Resort
This resort offers individual chalets. They can be right on the beach, in jungle area w/ no view or w/ a view, or right by the pool/resort area. They are scattered and there's many. It's all very interesting around there. We saw a huge black Komodo dragon lizard thing the first day off of our balcony. There is a great place to swin between smooth rocks and beatiful sand off the back side. There are a couple bars and a great menu. Service was good and friendly. It's off the beaten track though. It's a fun place.
Unique Quality: Exotic place with good beach and jungle animals around. Menu is very nice and done well. Buffets are good enough, nice variety, go early for freshness.

small and neat
A nice tidy hotel. The Hotel based on a fishing village, Cabanas dotted around the main lobby, and forrest
The cabanas are basic but comfortable and include tea and coffee making facilities,the all important hair dryer for she who must be obeyed,a mini bar is provided in all rooms.
We bought our drink from the duty free and placed that in the fridge, cheaper that way.
Unique Quality: The facilities were more than adequate, our cabana was at the top end of the resort(see pic) and had views of the sea and Anak burau island. The freeform pool wasn't all that big but you could swim a few length s without bumping into other guests
Dotted around the grounds are notice boards, explaining about the flora and fauna found here.
Included are the butterfly lizard and the spectacled Langur, who are shy but very sweet.

Mutiara Burau Bay
Enjoy the best sparkling seas and coastal forests of Langkawi at the Mutiara Burau Bay Beach Resort. The sprawling resort is nestled between a private beach and 19 acres of tropical rainforest, located between the foothills of legendary Mount Mat Cincang, the scenic Burau Bay and Pantai Kok. Only 15 minutes from Langkawi airport and 40 minutes from Kuah Jetty, the resort is the ultimate getaway location for holiday makers.

Comfortable but isolated
Accomodation here is in comfortable cabanas, which are not too close to each other. Nothing too fancy, but clean and practical. The rooms have small fridges and coffee and tea making facilities and tv.
Lovely grounds, well taken care of. Pool area is also clean. Service is mostly polite and friendly.
This hotel is at one of the most beautiful beaches and the beach is never crowded. All kinds of watersports available.
There are two restaurants. Food is good, but a bit pricey. If you don't want to eat at the hotel, its a long way to anywhere else. That is a big minus.
Around the resort you can see for example monitor lizards, silver leaf monkeys, hornbills, rainbow lizards etc.
Hotel also organizes free entertainment like snake shows, cultural shows etc.
There are a couple of stalls selling soft drinks, water and snacks in front of the hotel entrance. They are priced very reasonably and of a much better value than the really tiny hotel shop.
All in all, we had a good time there and would recommend this place to others, if they don't mind its isolated location. But.. next time in Langkawi, we will stay in Pantai Cenang area (maybe).

Nice Resort
While I did not stay here, they have a great buffet and beachside sitting. the Hotel has a nice Pool, Watersports available, Internet. This would be a great spot for couples.

I am staying at the Mutiara Burau Bay resort 28/10/2004 for 4 days, can anyone who has stayed there let me what the resort / hotel is like. Also the beach and things to do as this will be my first time in Langkawi.

Hi Baneville. Welcome to VT. You will enjoy staying at Burau, my favourite resort in Langkawi. I've stayed in many hotels in Langkawi but I think Burau is great. It's very private and you can relax there without any disturbance of noise pollution. Has it's own private beach and surrounded by forest. You can relax at the beach side or by the swimming pool. You can also go jungle trekking or rent a car at a very minimal price and tour the island. At the reception you can book a tour for island hopping or snorkeling at the nearby islands. Time will pass so fast that you will want to extend your stay there. I know I did. Enjoy yourself!!
