Langkawi, a cluster of 99 islands separated from mainland Malaysia by the Straits of Malacca, is a district of the state of Kedah in Northern Malaysia and lies approximately 51km west of Kedah. The total land mass of the islands is 47,848 hectares, while the main island of Langkawi itself has a total of 32,000 hectares. The main island spans about 25km from north to south and slightly more for east and west. The coastal areas consist of flat, alluvial plains punctuated with limestone ridges. Two thirds of the island is dominated by forest - covered mountains, hills and natural vegetation.

Check out the funky lezards
by Loubna
While lying on my hammock, I noticed this funky lizard making his way very quickly up the palm tree. Everytime he moved the shiny colours on his body kept changing. He seemed very slimmy as well as if he just dipped into oil.... Have a look at the photo :o)
Mangrove Swamp Canoe Adventure 3
by moomoos
During the course of this canoeing trip, Peter explains the special features, phenomenons and animals/insects which we come across as we paddle along the great swamp. Becareful about the tides because we got ourselves lost for a bit when we lost the water channel due to the rising tide as the afternoon drew on.
Duty-free shopping
by teemsum
There is a duty-free store right beside the Underworld Aquarium.
This store has better prices than the airport store.
You can buy a mid-size piece of luggage for only $20 CAD!
Also, for travelling, they have disposable underwear. They are a godsend!
FYI, the underwear sits quite low, so buy 1-2 sizes larger than you normally wear.
