Sharks
by CandS
When we went for a walk along the beach our guide showed us some baby sharks that were swimming in the water with us (although a little way away)... Some of our group went to swim with them later...
Gunung Raya Golf Resort
by chiabh
The 18-holes par-72 course is designed by Max Wexler and is located on the foothills of the Gunung Raya...the rather short course measures 5,879m from the blue tees... with the 1st Nine at 2,828m and the 2nd Nine at 3,015m... The 1st Nine is rather flat while is 2nd Nine is more undulating with water coming into play at many holes...
The green fees at RM200 per golfer and RM30 per shared buggy is a bit expensive... Charges are applicable on both weekdays and weekends... The course is open 7-days a week... The club has a rather well equipped pro shop... There are also the upgraded male and lady changing room...
Asian Village
by xxangelxx
This is a small village that you can drive to (although other transport is available). It has cafes and quite a few shops selling local wares, paintings, souvenirs, fans and such like. There are items to suit every price range, but the heat can be overpowering at times so make sure to take a bottle of water with you.
Duty Free Shopping Heaven
by bkarjee about Langkawi Duty Free SHOPS
Langkawi is a heaven for doing Duty Free Shopping and there are dozens of such shops around the island, but majority of them are located in the Kuah City Area. We visited the 'Zone Shopping Paradise' near Underwater World' at Pantai Cenang Beach. We could find local clothings, baggage, local Batik, Cigarettes, Liquor, confectionary, day to day use items, fashionwear etc. Clothes made up of cotton and Silk fabric with authentic Batik hand made painting for the ladies and the kids.
Liquor and Cigarettes are another attraction. You can carry beer cans by the dozens. I paid just RM 8.40 for 6 cans of Carlsberg Beer. Visitors are allowed to bring back one bottle of liquor and a carton of cigarettes to the mainland.
Local Malaysian items like Glassware, Crystals (made in Langkawi), Pewter from the Royal Selangor factory are also popular among visitors.
