Sunset Beach Resort
by mary2u99
The room is small and decorated in teak wood furniture. The only bad thing is the shower is warm and not hot. So if you want to take a shower in the morning just be warn as it’s not so nice. Breakfast was fresh fruit, eggs, cereal, juice, coffee and tea. The good thing is the staff are very friendly.
We were in this island for 3 days and it rain 2 days out of the 3 days and we were given umbrellas during this time.
Unique Quality: I love the beautiful landscaped and tropical garden with flowering plants, shrubs and lush palm grove. I also like the soft cascading water falls and lily padded ponds which is very tranquil and calming. The beach is also beautiful and it worth a dip. I like the sandy white sand.

Romantic, Quiet, Cheap and Nice !
by kishore7
Located right by the beach in Pantai Cenang, Sunset Beach Resort is a very nice quiet hotel made up of small "Chalet" built with the Balinese design. It is locate right by the Underwater World and during off season i managed to get their best room for RM150 per night. The staff are extremely friendly and they take the effort to learn and address each of their guests by first names. The surrounding is kept extremely clean and beautiful with many different plants and trees. Breakfast consists of egg, toast, coffee , 3 slices of fruits and half a sausage!...hey.... cant expect more for the price ur paying!
Unique Quality: There is NO swimming pool, NO cable television but the room had a beautiful and romantic bathroom!
Directions: Beside Underwater World..........the signboard is not very visible from the street but turn into the side when u see the yello signboard for "Oasis" restaurant

Worth The Budget Trip
by aniquez
This is one of the best place to stay, especially when youre on budget. The room is very nicely decorated and the whole concept of the place is of Bali style.
If you want to pay by credit card, you would have to go to their restaurant (Sunvillage) to swipe. But the trip (which is only about 500 meter from the motel) is worth it, the landscape of the restaurant is amazing.
There is no swimming pool and the beach was not quite clean the last time I was there. Theres another hotel being built next to the place and you may not be very comfortable with the Indonesian workers starring at you.
Unique Quality: The staffs are mostly locals and very typical Malay women, especially the elders. The TV reception is not good, but who needs it! I like the bathroom where the sun comes in shining through the roof so you dont have to switch on the light during day time.
Directions: If you come from Pantai Cenang, the place is about 50 meters from Underwater World.

Large + Comfortable + Friendly Staff
by backpackerbaby
Staying at this resort was a bonus to our stay! We first stayed at Beach Garden Resort for 2 nights, then we decided to extend our stay in Langkawi and asked for extending our stay at Beach Garden Resort. However, it was fully booked and could only let us stay for 1 more night. The nice staff at Beach Garden Resort helped us reserve 2 nights of stay at Sunset Beach Resort, which we thought maybe even nicer (and defitely cheaper) than Beach Garden.
Its entrance is a bit hidden. We couldn't find it in the day. At night, there's a glowing sign which enabled us to find it. Its entrance is lovely, with a small fish pond. The alley leading to the rooms are planted with lots of coconut trees and other plants. V. refreshing in the day!
Although there is no swimming pool, the beach is just a few steps away from your room. The room was really nice - spacious and comfortable!!! I liked the shower room the most!!!
Unique Quality: - excellent design of the shower room
- very large room with a queen-sized bed
- adjustable air-con.
- with a fridge, TV and hot shower
- directly at Pantai Tengah (Beach Tengah)
- nice breakfast (eggs + toast + juice + coffee/tea)
- very reasonable price: RM128/night/double room!!!
Directions: It's a bit hidden, we couldn't find it in the day! Its entrance is next to restaurants "Little India" and "Oasis Beach Cafe". If you go from the airport along the road, it's near the Aseania Sea View Resort.

More tasteful than your average bungalow
by Aphro
Small and simple but with a bit of style.
Right on the beach, view of the little pulaus (islands).
Unfortunately, the public areas have become quite rundown recently - the restaurant is in a really bad state and falling down! The food at breakfast is very basic although the staff continue to be very sweet and friendly.
I assume that during the off season the owners are going to rebuild? It's still good value as the rooms are spick and span as always.
Unique Quality: Very tasteful yet at a decent price, in an ocean of tacky and poor quality for the same money.
More about Sunset Beach Resort
Sunset Beach Resort amasing resort shame about the island.
by TripAdvisor Member MonkieMia
The welcome was kind genuine, friendly and warm. Over all incredible service. The accommodation was lovely clean and spacious rooms. The island itself however was to be honest disappointing, the litter and damage to the environment is evident, and it’s such a shame to see the beautiful jungle and beach strewn with litter. Myself and my partner felt that the island as a whole had obviously bee developed as a tourist destination back in the early nineties and had be derogating ever since, a lot of the attractions were tatty and littered, the seven well water fall is a prime example. We walked along the concreted walk ways that had bee made to look like wood stepping over fast food wrapper and to our disgust a few dirty nappies.
I actually cried when I saw a rotting carcass of a beautiful sea eagle that had died by fling in to a metal grill that covered what was supposedly a barbecue …. It was so upsetting that we both couldn’t wait to get back to the peace and tranquillity of the Resort.
Breakfast is a lovely continental spread although it can get a little repetitive.
There are sun lounges around the private beach area and also an outside massage area which is well worth the nominal charge. The Resort is wonderful it’s just a real shame that it is in Langkawi
Sparkling clean with friendly staff

Paradise found!
This resort is sparkling clean and rooms are very well maintained. The rate is also excellent for the quality of the accommodation. The beach area directly in front of the resort is small, however, the beach to the south was not really utilized and thus was fairly quiet. There is a rock outcropping just north of the resort which divides this area of the beach from that north of here. This is the much quieter side although occasionally the water sport activities would end up coming this far south.
The breakfast is fairly simple but good and includes eggs cooked the way you like, a fruit plate and toast, cereal, juice and coffee. There is no restaurant on the property itself, however it is only a 10 minute walk south to two lovely restaurants (Malay and seafood) owned by the company.
The staff is unbelievable friendly and the eating options in the area are cheap and delicious.
wonderful and totally relaxing
by TripAdvisor Member agkess
We just returned from Langkawi where my husband had a conference. We took a few days off and stayed at the Sunset Beach. We both loved it. It was completely relaxing and the price was phenomenal. The Tripadvisor reviews (both good and bad) gave me a very good idea of what to expect. We stayed in both Sunset 1 and 3. Sunset 3 was adequate, but small. Sunset 1 was lovely. If at all possible, I would advise staying in Sunset 1 or 2. The women at the front desk were extremely pleasant. Langkawi is too far from the US to make it a reasonable destination, but if I am ever in Malaysia again (and I hope to be) I would certainly go back to Langkawi and stay at the Sunset Beach resort.
