Relax with the kids (yes, it's possible at The Andaman)
We had a most enjoyable stay at this hotel where we stayed for two weeks. Upon arrival we were greeted by the manager and shown to our Seaview room shortly after. The room was lovely and the view breathtaking as there was a magnificent sunset or thunderstorm to watch most evenings.
We had with us our 2-year old and 6-month old sons. The couch turns into a spare bed and a cot was provided for the baby. The kids loved the place as it has a brilliant playroom for children full of IKEA stuff, videogames and movies which is run by an enthusiastic member of staff. The pool is superb, has a terraced layout (great for learning to swim) with a slide. There are some resident monitor lizards who provide some entertainment when they take the plunge. Most areas are covered by rainforest so the sun doesn't beam down too hot. If you do get hot and bothered, iced towels are brought around occasionally to cool you down. Beware of the monkeys. They appear late afternoon and try to raid your belongings.
Food is exquisite. We tried out all the restaurants - The Gulai House was our favourite but I fondly remember early breakfasts on my own watching the hornbills while the boys were still sleeping. Room service was also A+ with an extensive menu including kids dinners. Did I mention there was babysitting on tap? You could say this hotel is out in the stix. There is nothing to do but relax and enjoy time with the kids. Walk on the beach or if you want to visit the spa, a golf buggy will drive you there. All the staff we encountered were very professional and friendly. Sometimes in the restaurants they would take the kids off our hands so we could enjoy a dessert. Once we were caught out by heavy rain by the pool and staff appeared with umbrellas to carry the kids in. Finally, when you get back to your room after a hard days relaxing, you've had a visit from the turn-down fairy...
