Hotel Puri: Hotel Puri the best of Malacca

My favourite place is Hotel Puri and look at their website and if it is within your budget, you would have stayed at a historic building in a historic town. you can check out my Malacca pages if you like. enjoy malacca, with lots to do.. you may wish to stay more than one day there.. KL is easily accessible from Malacca

basic beach chalet: Mesra Chalet

Beach was OK to me..
BUT, please avoid a stall beside the “Pondok Polis” at pengkalan balak…There are local gangsters “lepak” / loitering there…Myself has been a victim and nearly got beaten up by them….The incident happened when i seek an honest appology from the stall owner since his waiter had accidently “shower” my son with a glass of nescafe….but instead i was harrased by the owner and the local “samseng” / gangsters…
Try to avoid that stall since there are a lot of other places to eat there with decent hospitality.

Hotel Melia Horizon

Newly open budget hotel in city of Malacca since Feb 2007.
Friendly service, clean environment and good facilities such as internet and astro channel (limited).
10 minutes walk to Mahkota Parade and 5 minues walk to nearby food outlets.
There is a karaoke outlet a couple of shops away from this budget hotel but i can't heard any noise from my room.

Tanjung Bidara Resort Hotel: Off the beaten path

Tanjung Bidara Resort Hotel is located in Tanjung Bidara beach. It is about 30km north of Melaka town. To get here, you have to drive north towards Port Dickson. There is no town around the resort. It is a bit secluded. The resort is a bit rundown. Though the buffet dinner is great. The beach is not the prettiest, but the sand is very fine. The beach is not crowded. The resort could be better maintained to attract more tourists. Aircond in the room is so old and not cold at all during the day.

Room type: Chalet & Room with Sea View.

The Legacy Hotel: The best kept secret of Melaka City

The best kept secret of Melaka City is the open air swimming pool of The Legacy Hotel.

The entrance hall is worth a look even if you don't stay there. My room was well sized, clean and air conditioned, with a small fridge and room safe. The TV was rubbish and not many english channels were available.

The breakfast buffet was to my full satisfaction.

Probably the best hotel swimming pool in town.
A lounge bar in the evening with plasma TV and a selection of cocktails.

Hotel Puri: Hotel Puri

Hotel Puri is located along Jalan Tun Tan Cheng Lock. It was built in 1822 and was purchased by Tan Kim Seng, a prominent businessman and a philanthropist.

The building was actually the ancestral home of the descendants of Tan Kim Seng. Kim Seng Bridge and Kim Seng Clock tower were named after Mr Tan.

Jalan Tun Tan Cheng Lock (Millionaires' Row) is considered as one of the oldest streets in Melaka. It was also known as Heeren Street during Dutch occupation of Melaka.

Baba House: A Nostalgic Place

They are having promotion until December 2005. I stayed in a Standard Single Room for only RM55 per night with breakfast. The room is simple but clean, with an attached bathroom, a TV and a dressing table.

However, the sound insulation is not so good. And the unused stuffs should have been stored in enclosed places, and not placed at the corners of the corridors which spoils the good view of the environment.

Anyhow, with that kind of price, the place is really worth staying for budget travel.

The interior design reflects a lot of Baba and Nyonya culture and tradition, which looks very classic. But it does look scary in some dark sections without lights at night...

The best part is that it is located adjacent to the Jonker Street, a good place for shopping and eating, and also within walking distance to tourist spots like the Stadhuys, A Famosa etc.

A' Famosa Resort Hotel & Condotels: Stay at the Apartments

The resort gives you a choice of hotel rooms, condotels or bungalows. During one of our stays with my colleagues (company family day event), we chose the 2 bed-room apartment. It was very comfortable and spacious. The larger room came with two double beds which was perfect for four people-just nice for me and my kids. My colleague took the other room with her two kids.

The apartment was pretty well furnished and our colleagues came over from other units ad everyone had a great time playing cards and chatting out at the living room. With the kitchen, it was convenient to make our own hot drinks. The view of the golf course & water theme park was pretty good too.

The condotel apartments are a suitable choice for 2 families who want to be together. Our kids and my colleague's kids enjoyed themselves tremendously, playing games and watching tv together.

There is no pool at the condotel and you'd have to drive to the hotel to use the pool. For those without their own transport, you can wait for the shuttle bus. (I'm not sure if they still have this)
