Take a Trishaw tour
by cafank
Probably the best way to see Malacca is with a driver/guide in a multi-decorated trishaw.
The trishaws that ply for hire in Malacca are works of art, adorned with bells and baubles and chrome-framed pictures of footballers like David Beckham, Michael Owen, Ronaldo and Ronaldino and film-stars like Arnold Swartzenegger and Bruce Lee
Most trishaw drivers are very good guides and can give you a wonderful histry lesson as you wander around the town. The people, the places, the weary feet which took to to a trishaw!

Cycling in A Cemetery : Bukit Cina, Melaka
by bpacker
If you are into off road cycling, you might want to consider cycling in Bukit China the next time you're in Melaka. Of course, this is a sport that won't appeal to everyone. While the windy, gravel-strewn and undulating trails are perfect for thrill-seekers, they'll terrify some inexperienced sods who might jolly well crash into a 400-year old grave. Yes, you heard me correctly!
Bukit Cina is a cemetery set on top an ancient hill . While some folks might think I'm irreverent or disrespectful for suggesting something like this, let me just say that the bike trail offers a spectacular view of the town and the watery Straits of Melaka. Plus, the trail, overstrewn with trees will give you an all time high if you're a seasoned biker. So if you're super-superstitious, I'd suggest you try another sport. A well serviced Mountain Bike ( check the bloody brakes! ), helmet ( in case you crash into a grave), gloves, protective eye wear, water bottles or other hydration equipment, mosquito repellent, etc.
Dataran Pahlawan

I was surprised to see this name of a mall in downtown Melaka. In the Philippines, it's Palawan (without the H) - a name of a place with lots of majestic spots.
For my update, I uploaded one more pix taken from my recent visit.
Gula Melaka (Coconut Sugar)
by bpacker about Sold in Shops in Jonker Walk
Now if you haven't tasted this yummy brown coconut sugar , you haven't been to Melaka, Malaysia! Why else would they name the sugar after the state anyway? Gula Melaka is made from from the sweet, watery sap that drips from cut coconut flower buds. Contrary to belief, it isn't palm sugar but coconut sugar. Good Gula Melaka taste lusciously sweet, creamy and rich like caramel when it's soft. To use, pop a piece into a bag and hammer it into small pieces. You can find good, fresh Gula Melaka from this little factory -shop in Jonker Street. RM4 for about 6 pieces
