Resting at the Equatorial

I didn't actually stay in this hotel, but we did enjoy a buffet lunch at the hotel restaurant, The Rest House (the food was lovely, by the way). The hotel did look lovely though, very nicely kept, with not only The Rest House, but a cafe and outside bar area. Great location and would definitely stay here should I visit Melaka again.

Unique Quality: Good facilities (including a swimming pool) and location.

Hotel Close to Mahkota Medical Centre

I recommend Hotel Equatorial highly. you can see Mahkota Medical Centre from the hotel and you can walk there in minutes. It also has the best Nyonya restaurant, wtih Chef Bong at the helm. The hotel staff are very friendly including the concierge, Amin.
My favourite hotel is of course Hotel Puri. it is a very long walk from there to MMC but a good trikshaw ride. If the person is infirm in any way, I recommend Hotel Equatorial. Both Equatorial and Mahkota ( i have stayed there once, very oriented towards local tourism )are very close.

Sensational Hotel!!

We stayed in Melaka for 4 nights, and found this hotel perfect in every way!

Price: Relatively inexpensive! We booked on a last minute booking website and got a great price. Although even booking directly through the hotel is also reasonable.

Rating: This hotel was only rated 4 star, so I was a bit hesitant, having stayed in some dodgy 4 star hotels previously. Not this one!! Certainly lived up to 4 star standards, and beyond! I would say that it is close to being a 5 star rating by my standards!

Room: The room was large, modern and very clean! We had a balcony which was great for drying clothes one, and it also had great views looking out to the Straight Of Melaka (Ocean).

Generally speaking, the foyer was all stylish and marble, and had a grand staircase going up to the restaurants, and function centres. The pool area was magnificant too! Huge pool, and the pool area (on the roof) is stunning. I think they may have even been a tennis court up there too!!!

Anyway, all in all..... this hotel, quality, service, standards wise is SENSATIONAL!!!

Unique Quality: As far as hotels go in Melaka, this one would have to be the all round best. It's in a prefect location right next to the A'Famosa Fort, and the main shopping centre too (Mahkota Parade). Walking from the hotel to the shopping centre can also be done through another shopping mall..... which is great too!!!

You can pretty much walk to all the famous places in Melaka from the hotel. Even walking to the churches from the hotel, is via the A'Famosa fort.... so you can go from one tourist spot to the next, without even having to walk far!!!

Tall hotel in Malacca

Hotel stands outstanding. and its walking distance to the places of interest. Hotel Equatorial Melaka is built on the original site of the old Malacca Rest House, it is within walking distance to famous historical sites like the A'Famosa and St. Paul's Hill as well as the popular antique shopping area, Jonker's Street and the award winning shopping complex - Mahkota Parade

Friendly Staff at the Hotel

Definitely one of the more enjoyable stays at a hotel in Asia.

Unique Quality: The concierge Amin was very knowledgeable about the transportation and other facilities around Malaysia and spent time explaining them to me. The front desk had LeYin who was as pleasant as she could be. she even called Hotel Puri and made reservations for me. I will definitely return to this hotel before i leave Malaysia and of course yet another dinner at seri nyonya restaurant. How I wish I could share this lovely dinner with my friens in Cuba!

Good Service, Great Spot and Good Views

This is an ideal spot to stay. First of all, all the historic sites are within walking distance. and the neighbourhood has a lived in feeling and not the isolated feelings of some hotels. The views from upper flors ( I am in 15th floor ) is stunning, panoramic.

Unique Quality: Unlike many upper class hotels in Malaysia, the staff here are knowledgeable and very friendly ( I was thinking of Regency Hotel in Malaysia). I look forward to the elegant dining at the Nyonya restaurant and coffee and tea at their coffee shops. The rooms are very comfortable.
they usually have promotions which are good value. Currently they have a promotion for 250 ringitt ( about 60 usd) double which includes 25 usd worth of food.

Hotel with the Mass Appeal

If location and a reasonably-priced hotel room is what you're after, stay at the Equatorial. If not, everything will be a sore point for you. Since this is Melaka's more popular hotels, the lobby will be overcrowded with folks, the buffet breakfast will be catered for masses and the service will be so-so. The rooms are somewhat plain too. Perhaps the only saving grace is the big, luxurious pool. There are 3 interconnecting pools at this place and lots of palm trees to give you a secluded feel. A must, given that there are always lots of tourists..

Unique Quality: The pool , only the pool.

My favourite Hotel in Melaka

I stayed in this hotel twice, May 2001 and Sep 2003. I was impressed by the service, ambience, coffee shop, various restaurants in the hotels, and factilities. It has nice swimming pool and excellent sanue and gym equipment.

I highly recommend. Be sure get a room with high floor facing the sea.

Melaka in style

I didn't stay here; but did go to the coffeeshop and used its restroom facilities as well as the reception/concierge desk to ask about stamps. Very nice service. Receptionists spoke very good English and I understood them (and they understood me.)

Unique Quality: Tall building and in the centre of the historical section of town.

Nestled in town...

Equatorial Melaka is located in town, enabling travellers to go around either on taxi or foot ( i prefer the latter...)
