Melaka -> Comfort Hotel
by moritztravel about Melaka -> Comfort Hotel
April 2001 -> double room with air con/en suite: $RM50/night Recommended to us by our taxi driver and right down the street from the YHA. We are currently paying RM50 for an air conditioned double room with ensuite. It is very clean and comfortable and the people are very nice.

Highly recommended. We went there without hotel reservation thus went searching for a decent hotel the moment we reached Melaka. Tried Makota but was fully booked thus walked towards Jonker and chance upon this red building hotel. Looked pretty new and clean from the outside so decided to go for it. And it turn out to be a good bargain!
I stayed in the Aldy Suite. Roomy, well equipped! Plus jacuzzi bath tub. Wow. A new boutique hotel (opened in Jan 04)conveniently located 3 mins from tourist attractions and 5 mins from Jonker Street.
Roof of the hotel is a rooftop jacuzzi. A great view of Melaka can be captured on the roof!

Last Minute Suggestions Needed
by bkoon
Hi!
I just booked a room at the Hotel Puri and am now planning a last minute weekend trip with my sister who deperately needs to unwind.
Although I've been to Malacca for a few times, would still need some suggestions. Hence, my questions are :
- The best Chicken Rice Ball
- The best Dim Sum Restaurant
- The best Nonya Restaurant
- The best local desserts (My sis loves the Baba Chendol)
- The best thing to do at night, after dinner. Pasar Malam at Jonker's good?
- Not so "ordinary" places of interest?
Looking forward to your reponses.
Thank you very much.
Regards,
Bee :)

Best C/riceball ? I personally recommend the one just after the bridge to Bandar Hilir, Chong Hwa is the name I think. No idea about Dim Sum, why DS ? Melaka is not famous for that !! Nonya Rest ....hm...there is one along somewhere in Bandar hilir again.....man I forgot the name...try looking out the street right ahead of the same bridge I mentioned it should be on your left. Very authentic in a typical old building. Local desert ? you like durian ? the local durian chendol is a killer, I never miss that every time I visit Melaka ! Things to do at night ? no comment.....have a beer at any outdoor cafe. enjoy your trip to the ancient town....cheers !

Hi Bee,
Here are some recommendations after my last visit to Melaka :
Baba Chendol : shop on Jonker's called Jonker's Dessert, also v.v. good Durian Chendol (don't bother going to Tan Kim Hock, this one is the real deal)
Chicken Rice Ball : either No.7 Jonkers or the Corner Coffee Shop (with carts selling jam tarts outside)
Nyonya Restaurant : There are a few along Jonker's including one called Jonker's Melaka. Havent tried it tho. Most ppl talk about Dondang Sayang or Seri Nyonya in Equatorial Hotel Melaka.
Jonker's is quite nice to walk around both during the day and night but i find a lot of the prices very inflated...melaka is getting a little too touristy and commercial now, i guess. pity.
hope this helps :)

Nyonya food: Jonkers Melaka is great but only open until 4:30pm so no good for the evening.
Another place is Restoran Nyonya Makko. The address is 123 Taman Melaka Raya, Phone 06-2840737. It's slogan is "The Best Nyonya Food In Town". Until I've tried every Nyonya restaurant in town I won't know but it was pretty good!
I am now a Nyonya addict.
