Aldy Hotel

by hientonkin

Hi all, I am choosing the hotel in Malacca.
Aldy seems a nice option, but it has 2 properties : Aldy Stadhuys and Chinatown.
Which one should I stay ?
Great thanks!!

Hi!

I've stayed in Aldy Stadhuys before and satisfied with it. Not sure where exactly Aldy Chinatown is located but Aldy Stadhuys itself is within walking distance to the Chinatown/Jonker Walk area - it is sandwhich btw the Chinatown and the A Famosa fort/Mahkota Parade shopping mall.

Hi M,
Have you stayed at the Heeren House? I heard a lot of good comments on this one. Though the price for the date i want to stay is 53 USD ( do you have any other suggestion for a lower price and clean enough?)
Thanks
hien

Aldy Hotel

by kentut_besar

Yes, do stay @ the Aldy Hotel near Stadhuys, much nearer the food spots I've written about.

With the money you save, you can indulge in good food, booze, &, if you want some thing therapeutic, go to the Puri-Puri Spa, at the newly-built Puri Hotel, 5 minutes walk from Aldy Hotel. Excellent spa treatments there, & the place is very tastefully done up in a Balinese concept. All very reasonably priced, good way to spend a lazy afternoon.

By the way, the Puir Hotel is also rather nice, & I seem to remember that the prices are almost the same as Aldy (Stadhuys), at the most, slightly more. Check out their web-site for more info.:

Merlimau - Tun Teja Mousoleum

by mansionion

In the history of Melaka, Tun Teja is known for her tragic love story.

She is the daughter of palce official Sri Amar Di Raja of Inderapura (now Pahang) who was admired by many during her time, including the Sultan of Melaka. However, whenthe Sultan asked for her hand, it was turned down by her family as she was supposed to be engaged to someone else. Later, she was duped into marrying the Sultan by Hang Tuah, a Melakan warrior.

She died a queen, in Merlimau, about 24km from Melaka City, while retreating with other members of the Melaka royal family from Portuguese attack in 1511.

Local Handicrafts

by chatterley

Plenty of stuff for women to spend their money on, in Malacca! Besides those kebayas, you can also find many pretty bags for sale. These bags ooze a tropical flavour, and they are perfect for the beach and goes well with your summer dresses. Some are made from straw, others are adorned with batik trimmings. You can find them in many shops in Malacca. about 19 to 49 Ringgit, depends on the size of the bag and your bargaining skills!

In The Heart Of History

by nutt03z about Looney Planet Cafe

A conspicuous cafés in a conspicuous part of town, it attracts a large number of first-time visitors to this historic city. Inside, an easygoing setting unfolds with a long bar counter and clusters of stools and tables tightly lodged together in this two-shophouse unit. Two computer terminals provide welcome Internet services. There is a bit of everything from the eclectic and exhaustive menu. Of note are local items like the Nonya Kueh Pie Ti, which makes an excellent light snack. Elsewhere on the menu, local and western fare compete for the palate. Local beer costs from MYR6.50, imported beer MYR12. None
