Good but not great
It's definitely not up to Marriot standard. It likely a 4 star. Check in was slow due to high peak. Hotels very crowded.The room is fine, big and clean but the down side is the bath tub, pathetic conditions. I was wondering why the Hotel did not renovate the bath tub? Not close to Jonker street but walking there took us around 30 min. But walking back is a problem, too tired. Too bad no free WiFi in room, a 5 star Hotel should have this Free for customers. Besides that, the entrance of the car park is very narrow, MPV and SUV need caution. Overall, not a bad stay though. Will stay again if there is promotion.
Restaurant Tip : The Formosa chicken ball is over rated. It is just beside the Hotel. My advise, skip this, very disappointed! Go elsewhere to have it. Jonker street is a must, but nothing to shout for, stroll and look around will be just nice.

Worst 5-Star Hotel
I'm very dissapointed with my first experience with Marriott. Renaissance Melaka Hotel is a 5-star rated hotel under Marriott, however I find the service and quality of the hotel similar to 3 star in Malaysia. My experiences as below
1) No greeting and smile from front desk during check in.
2) I have requested Early Check In during reservation and email reminder from Renaissance stated it was Noted. However, when I reached at 12.30pm, the front desk staff told me to wait for 1 hour, and she called housekeeping in front of me to start clean up the room. When I ask whether can it be done faster in 30 min, the staff told me 1 hr is the standard time and I need to wait.
3) Renaissance Melaka website did not indicate there is charges for WIFI, I'm thinking to surf internet when I wait for 1 hour check-in, the frontdesk staff told me 1 hr WIFI is RM21.00!
4) The hotel room does not looks clean and hygiene enough, and it looksold.
5) No one answering when I called few times to Housekeeping at 11pm.
The only compliment from me is, housekeeping staffs react quick when I requested few times for coffee making facilities and mineral waterdelivery. Certainly, the hotel seriously must spend more effort to improve the service quality.

Renaissance Melaka Hotel
This 5* hotel property of the Marriott Group lives up to its name... The room is spacious with the normal room amendities... Fully air-conditioned, there is the LCD CTV, IDD telephone, mini-bar, Internet access (at a charge), In-room safe, Ironing board and Electric Iron, refridgerator etc...
Unique Quality: For F&B, there is the Long Feng Chinese Restaurant and the Olio Italian Restaurant... For all day dining, there is the Zest Restaurant (coffee house) and drinks at the Famosa Lounge...
The Renaissance also caters for meetings and conferences... as well as wedding dinners and other dinner functions at its Ballroom...

Best Hotel in Malacca Town
First Impression - In my opinion, this is the only hotel in Malacca hotel that merits a 5-star rating. The lounge at the lobby is a comfortable place to meet friends, have a drink or to read a book.
Room - I had a spacious corner suite comprising a sitting room and bedroom with ensuite bathroom. Decor was non-fussy (I liked that) and colour scheme was muted giving it a very relaxing feel.
Breakfast - buffet breakfast is served in the coffee house located off the main lobby. Quality of the food is fairly acceptable but nothing to shout about.
Location - very centrally located within stone's throw of Chinatown and other major tourist attractions.

Great value
This hotel is one of the tallest structure in Melaka. Rooms are spacious, with comfortable beds and a good sized bathroom. Hotel service and the breakfast buffet was good too, I would recommend this hotel to those who are thinking about making a short trip to Melaka.
Unique Quality: Good view of Melaka town if you stay in a high floor.

Renaissance Melaka
Thanks to our package tour, we got a great deal and could stay at Renaissance Melaka.
Unique Quality: It starts with the lobby, which is absolutely stunnning. It goes on with nice rooms with an excellent view over Melaka. Breakfast Buffet is nice as well.

The Classiest Hotel in Town
If it is luxury you're opting for , then Renaissance will be your cup of tea. Everything over here, from the grand lobby to the colour-cordinated room spells luxury! luxury! luxury! Service is also good. Perhaps what is not so good is the miniscule pool at the rooftop. To top it off, it has no shade. That includes the junior pool, so baby will get a sunburn;)
Unique Quality: Food at the Capers I suppose, but prices are high, even for a Singaporean. Room per night cost a spanking US$130++ but it is conveniently located in town. If you're here on a mini break, it's best to consider this classy joint.

Fabulous Town Hotel
Wonderfully situated in the heart of the Town Centre, within walking distance to all the Town's sight seeing venues. This 4 star hotel has a great restaurant and the pool and gym weren't that bad either. Was very lucky to get an executive suite at an exceptional price as the rooms were extremely spacious and the kids had a great time running around- almost like home!!

well located - you can walk to Jonkers street in 10-15 minutes, to Bukit Cina in 15 minutes and there is lots of eateries around. Even the famous Famosa chicken rice is round the corner
Unique Quality: it is very pack on weekends - favourite with Singaporeans Price is about RM225 onwards includes buffet breakfast

Location of Hotels in Melaka
I will be attending a conference at City Bayview Hotel but would like to stay at the Renaissance Melaka. Are these 2 hotels within walking distance? How long is the walk and is it safe to walk with 2 kids during the nite? Alternatively is there another reasonable hotel near to City Bayview? Many thanks.

City Bayview & Renaissance are just accross the street and close to each other (5 mins walking distance). The arae around the hotels should be safe though a bit quite at night.
