Cheap accomodation

We made a last minute decision to visit Melaka during Hari Raya Haji but were unable to secure a reservation at Tang's house. So we tried Ringo's Foyer instead, booked a double bed guest room with aircon for 2 nights. Total cost: SGD41.47. The owner, Howard, is very friendly. He had organised a short trip to the Jonker street in the evening and introduced the guests to the local food stalls. We did not join the introduction trip as we were already quite familiar with Jonker street.

The location of the guest house is near the end of the Jonker street(Centre Stage) and it is just two shops away from Xiang Ji satay house. The guest house is big and the rooms are scattered on the 2nd and 3rd floor. It felt like a maze navigating in this narrow and deep guest house. There are two toilets/bathrooms on each floor, and only one bathroom on the 2nd floor has a heater. They have a free tea/coffee area in the lobby, Wi-fi, TV, a book exchange and a bike rental service. The rooms are basic and the guest house is a bit run down. Even though some of the reviews indicated that they have a nice rooftop leisure area but when we explored the area it is quite shabby. The bed that we slept had bed bugs, it had a small blanket and the bed is uncomfortable. It creaked for every turn we made and we had backaches the next day. The first night, the aircon stopped working twice in the wee hours and it was pretty stuffy, however, Howard got it fixed.

Overall, it is a good place to meet and mingle with other travellers but not too much for comfort.
