by travelpug about Tanjung Bidara Resort Hotel
Tanjung Bidara Resort Hotel is located in Tanjung Bidara beach. It is about 30km north of Melaka town. To get here, you have to drive north towards Port Dickson. There is no town around the resort. It is a bit secluded. The resort is a bit rundown. Though the buffet dinner is great. The beach is not the prettiest, but the sand is very fine. The beach is not crowded. The resort could be better maintained to attract more tourists. Aircond in the room is so old and not cold at all during the day.
Room type: Chalet & Room with Sea View. buffet dinner is great

If you're in MALACCA, another great resort to stay in is at the Tanjong Bidara Beach Resort.
Tanjung Bidara is approximately 35KM from Malacca town and their lovely beach is ideal for swimming, waterskiing or canoeing!
Tanjung Bidara Beach

I stayed at Tajung Bidara for one night. It didn't seem to be a popular destination. The beach was kind of quiet. The sand is soft and golden. Tanjung Bidara is a nice place to relaxed. But the downside is there is nothing around the beach. There is no town nearby (or perhaps I didn't know it).
Directions: Tanjung Bidara is about 30km north of Melaka town. Drive on the old road (not the Highway) towards Port Dickson and turn left when you see the sign.

For your holiday in Malaysia, pick any of the numerous beaches and island hideaways such as Port Dickson, Tanjung Bidara, Penang, Tanjong Jara, Langkawi and etc. With their sun-splashed beaches, clear waters and friendly people.
Stay cool on one of the Malaysia's many hill resorts or lose yourself in Sarawak's niah caves.

Town Bus No 17
by baobei
Hi, can anyone advise on where I can find out more on the routes taken by Town Bus No 17? Am i right to say that if i am going to Portuguese Settlement, I can take the said bus from Mahkota Parade?
By the way, for the return trip from Portuguese Settlement back to Mahkota Parade, do we take the same bus from where we alighted?
Appreciate some advice from those who knows, many thanks in advance :)

Hi!
Yes, you can take bus no 17 from Mahkota Parade to go to the Portuguese Settlement in Ujong Pasir. The same goes for your return journey. Alternatively, maybe you can hire a "beca" (local trishaw) for the trip to Ujong Pasir - try to negotiate with the driver for fare.

hi,

are there any bus can bring me to seaside in malacca?

I don't thinks the bus route is available on line. If you plan to go to seaside in Melaka, maybe you can consider Tanjung Bidara abt 45mins drive frm the city. Frm the city, take a bus to Masjid Tanah town then transit to another bus to Tanjung Bidara.

beaches
by Cph.shots
Hi there.
Can someone tell what the beaches around Melaka are like around the begining of April?
I really like the sound of the town.
I had been thinking of travelling up to Penang from S'pore but as Melaka is so much closer I think we'll go there instead. The only thing is we're a family with 8 & 10 year olds and we'd really like to combine Malaysian culture with a nice beach, on a back backers budget.
Can this be done in Melaka?
Thanks for the help.

Weather in Malaysia is always Sunny and humid. around 33 degree celcius. No worries too much about bad weather. Therefore beaches in malaysia is very safe. You need sun block as Sun in Malaysia is always regards as 'very strong', especially with kids around. Not sure about any accomodation there. Must try the chicken rice balls there. It is a typical Melaka cuisine, which you do not find it other parts of Malaysia. Hope you enjoy your family and you enjoy there.

Hi there,
Thank you for considering Melaka for your holiday. It has a lot of similarity to Penang, only smaller and hence attractions are fewer. You can however spend one or two nights here. Try to arrange to stay in one of the weekend night as the night market in Jonker Walk is one of the best in Malaysia (not for counterfeit stuff but more for local food, craft and culture).
There is an alright beach in northern part of Melaka namely Tanjung Bidara but it is almost an hour from Melaka town and the only resort is not good and there is nothing else to do.
Another option for beach is take a boat to Pulau Besar (15mins) and see if you like to stay in there for a night. The beach is nice to look at but swimming may not be advisable as there may be jelly fish. Have a day trip and if you like it, choose a place to stay on the day or next day.
