beautiful hotel but away from town

Good (3.0 of 5.0 stars)
by written on October 22, 2014

We booked our night coach from Konsortium on return $452 for 4pax. It reached Binchang town in the morning. After breakfast and briefing on the tour package, we were transferred to our hotel.

It has renamed to Copthorne Hotel Cameron Highlands,Kea Farm.. We booked two night thru agoda.com. This is a lovely hotel. Just away from Brinchang town. There are very limited shop and food around but within walking distance to Kea Farm and Bee Farm. Please avoid to go Brinchang town during peak hour because the traffic is heavily jam and hotel does not provide shuttle service. You may check the timing and book with bell counter. We joined the land tour thru their agent. not bad. we enjoyed very much but the price is not cheap.

Basic 4 star hotel with great view / service

Great (4.0 of 5.0 stars)
by written on January 27, 2013

The hotel is a modest 4 star. Did not go there with very high expectations, having read some other reviews, perhaps, that help set realistic expectations.

First the plus : - each and every staff member is very courteous and helpful...be it at the reception, restaurants, room service or at the tour desk. This friendly and helpful attitude makes you forget the slip ups here and there.

The location is excellent, with very close proximity to the Kea Farm market, Strawberry farms (though these are small ones...worth visiting is the "The big red strawberry" farm which is 10 min drive), Bee farm and the Butterfly garden which is 5 min walking distance from the hotel. Also, being perched at the acme of the Cameron Highlands , the hotel offers great views from the upper floor rooms. The back view and the farm views are particularly spectacular.

The Boh tea plantation is 25 min by car and a visit not to be missed.

The two main restaurants offer good fresh food with the Chinese restaurant (Phoenix) offering the famous Steam Boat dinner. The breakfast is quite sumptuous as well, though the hot dishes are mainly Malay and Chinese cuisine. All in all, good food with good service.

Now the downside:

- we took the Deluxe rooms and Senator Suites for the family group. Though the suit is quite spacious and reasonably well mantaned, the Deluxe rooms needs attention to minor details, such as electrical fittings etc.

If you are a regular user of wifi, ensure you have grown your finger nails long enough to chew them off in frustration during your stay. the wify signal is very weak / inconsistent even in the senator suites, as well as the lobby. The hotel management needs to seriously look into the same as Wifi is one of the basic requirements now a days.

Safety lockers are only available in the Senator suite or at the Reception. Ironing facility is confined to the Senator Suite.

Dirty, Dirty, Dirty

Terrible (1.0 of 5.0 stars)

I have never stayed in such a filthy hotel. Stains on the linen, carpets, dirty bathroom, furniture, hallways. Telephone didn't work and no remote for the TV. We needed an extra blanket one night as my travel partner was ill and they wanted to charge an extra $10 per night.

Unique Quality: This hotel has great views and really nice hotel lobby. It was quite disappointing to see the rest of the hotel once we left the lobby.

The hotel was fine for us with great views and one of the best buffet breakfasts we've found.
The only downside is that there are very few restaurants to choose from in the vicinity, thought there was an Indian hawker stall at the entrance which was very cheap and not bad food.

Unique Quality: Great views.

Directions: Top of the hill.

The most luxurious hotel in Cameron Highlands ?

I stayed at Equatorial Hotel in Cameron Highlands, & I'm not sure its the most luxurious, but it was certainly very nice & the service was very good.

I hope this will meet your requirements.

I'd suggest you go by car, because you have a lot more flexibility on what time you want to reach there & leave, compared to adhering to rigid coach schedules.

Its also better to go on weekdays, because its less crowded & you're less likely to be intimidated by the sheer swell of the weekend crowd.

Have a great time in Cameron Highlands, cheers.

Don't choose this place. The room are not cleaned up at all with used slippers lying around the room, toilet is dirty with spoilt tap and shower. After calling for room service for 1 whole day, nothing is being done.

Above average hotel at Cameron's

Good (3.0 of 5.0 stars)
by written on July 4, 2008

It's a fairly decent and one of the more affordable hotels at Cameron Highlands. The room was clean, but a little old. It seems to be a popular hotel among locals as it was packed during the time I was there.

Breakfast at the coffee house was good with a wide variety. Dinner was good as well, generous portions.

Ironing facilities located in a room near the pool (how unusual is that). So it was a little inconvenient to take clothes to the room for ironing.

Good value for money.

The hotel is perched at 1628 meters above sea level, surrounded by majestic mountains and gentle undulating valleys. It is the only resort situated at the highest accessible point of the highlands.

Spread over 13 acres, the Tudor styled resort offers 141 attractive, self-contained low rise apartment suites and 268 superior rooms, deluxe rooms and suites in the hotel tower that offer breathtaking views of the highland landscapes.

The resort is famously known for its capability in hosting events from company incentive trips to conventions and seminars. Besides the resort's extensive recreational facilities and vast grounds where telematches and scavenger hunts can be carried out. The resort will also arrange trips to the "Orang Asli" settlement.

Unique Quality: I stayed in one of their superior rooms from 23 to 25 March 2006 and the balcony view was superb.

It has an indoor swimming pool but it was closed for maintenance on 26 March 2006 when we dropped by.

The gymasium operating hours are from 8am to 8pm daily and guests have to register at recreation/reception counter, level 1.

Directions: It is located next to the Kea Farm, Brinchang and approximately 219km from Kuala Lumpur.

The hotel is excellent. Location wise, it is ideal. Between walking distances to most attractions like the Butterfly Farm, Strawberry farm, Honey bee farm, etc. To get to Boh plantation is a little bit far, but for fit guys like me, it should not be a problem to hike up the little hill to get there.

Unique Quality: Beautiful scenery of the cactus and rose garden.

Unique Quality: The Hotel is an old sprawling building with suits for longer duration tourists as well. They provide car parking too. The view from the hotel is beautiful down the green streches of mountains. The sweet smell of straberries growing down comes while going through the drive. Its a very serene location. Not much indoorsy sort of stuff to do. Internet was slow. Good for a holiday from city life.

We tried to book the superior room at Equatorial Hotel 1 week before our departure through AsiaRooms. However, probably due to school holidays, there is no more superior room for the dates that we had chosen. My husband decided to pay a bit more to stay in the 1-Room Apartment instead of the hotel. We had our own parking space in front of the apartment. There is a living room where we can enjoy watching the television programmes and the scenery.

We paid 250 SGD for 2-Night stay at the 1-Room apartment (Breakfast inclusive).

I haven't stayed at the hotel (my trip is on the 11th of Jan) but my experience with the customer service there is already bad. Emailed the hotel 3 TIMES to see if I could make some special arrangements to prepare the room for a romantic getaway. The manager (Nurul) was only keen to upsell the Candlelight Dinner Package at RM$80++/pax and never bothered to ask me how I wanted to have the room decorated. Totally turned off.
