Dirty, Dirty, Dirty

I have never stayed in such a filthy hotel. Stains on the linen, carpets, dirty bathroom, furniture, hallways. Telephone didn't work and no remote for the TV. We needed an extra blanket one night as my travel partner was ill and they wanted to charge an extra $10 per night.

Unique Quality: This hotel has great views and really nice hotel lobby. It was quite disappointing to see the rest of the hotel once we left the lobby.

Get up high.

The hotel was fine for us with great views and one of the best buffet breakfasts we've found.
The only downside is that there are very few restaurants to choose from in the vicinity, thought there was an Indian hawker stall at the entrance which was very cheap and not bad food.

Unique Quality: Great views.

Cameron Highlands

The most luxurious hotel in Cameron Highlands ?

I stayed at Equatorial Hotel in Cameron Highlands, & I'm not sure its the most luxurious, but it was certainly very nice & the service was very good.

I hope this will meet your requirements.

I'd suggest you go by car, because you have a lot more flexibility on what time you want to reach there & leave, compared to adhering to rigid coach schedules.

Its also better to go on weekdays, because its less crowded & you're less likely to be intimidated by the sheer swell of the weekend crowd.

Have a great time in Cameron Highlands, cheers.

Worst resort ever!

Don't choose this place. The room are not cleaned up at all with used slippers lying around the room, toilet is dirty with spoilt tap and shower. After calling for room service for 1 whole day, nothing is being done.

Above average hotel at Cameron's

It's a fairly decent and one of the more affordable hotels at Cameron Highlands. The room was clean, but a little old. It seems to be a popular hotel among locals as it was packed during the time I was there.

Breakfast at the coffee house was good with a wide variety. Dinner was good as well, generous portions.

Ironing facilities located in a room near the pool (how unusual is that). So it was a little inconvenient to take clothes to the room for ironing.

Good value for money.

This is what you get at this height...

Unique Quality: Cooling stay here. The temperature was at 19.7 degrees C at about 12 noon. In the early morning it could go down to about 14 degrees.

Cameron Highland tallest hotel

The hotel is perched at 1628 meters above sea level, surrounded by majestic mountains and gentle undulating valleys. It is the only resort situated at the highest accessible point of the highlands.

Spread over 13 acres, the Tudor styled resort offers 141 attractive, self-contained low rise apartment suites and 268 superior rooms, deluxe rooms and suites in the hotel tower that offer breathtaking views of the highland landscapes.

The resort is famously known for its capability in hosting events from company incentive trips to conventions and seminars. Besides the resort's extensive recreational facilities and vast grounds where telematches and scavenger hunts can be carried out. The resort will also arrange trips to the "Orang Asli" settlement.

Unique Quality: I stayed in one of their superior rooms from 23 to 25 March 2006 and the balcony view was superb.

It has an indoor swimming pool but it was closed for maintenance on 26 March 2006 when we dropped by.

The gymasium operating hours are from 8am to 8pm daily and guests have to register at recreation/reception counter, level 1.

Equatorial Cameron Highlands

The hotel is excellent. Location wise, it is ideal. Between walking distances to most attractions like the Butterfly Farm, Strawberry farm, Honey bee farm, etc. To get to Boh plantation is a little bit far, but for fit guys like me, it should not be a problem to hike up the little hill to get there.

Unique Quality: Beautiful scenery of the cactus and rose garden.

KL to Cameron highlands and Penang

by lambadi71

I and my wife, aged 60 & 53 are planning to visit Malaysia in December for a Week. We wanted to go to KL, then Cameron highlands and finally to Penang. From KL which would be the best comfortable mode of transportation to go to cameron and penang? Can i go by bus or train? Any replies are appreciated. Thanks!

hi there.. try this website for info on going to camerons.. http://www.cameronhighlands.com/location/..

as for penang, i would recommend taking the bus.. for a more comfotable ride, take the executive buses which has 3 seats across instead of four.. more leg room for a less rm10 extra.. the train only take you to butterworth with is on mainland.. it'll be quite a hassle to get across to the island from there..

hope this helps.. have a great trip! :)

From KL to Penang, you could take a flight. It don't cost that much especially if you book early.
Normal - RM90 one way
Early booking - as low as RM20 with air asia.

If you choose to take the coach to Penang, I think it will take about 5 - 6 hours. However, travelling by coach can be interesting if you travel by day. You will be passing by really beautiful areas - hills with lots of greenery.

Take the bus since you will be making a stop over in Cameron before moving on to Penang. Then fly back to KL from Penang by plane. Make sure you pre-book your flight though.

Recommended Airline: Airasia
Recommended Coach: Plusliner/ Executive
Recommended Hotel: Equatorial (Cameron Highlands)
Recommended Hotel: Gurney Hotel (Penang)

Godspeed!!

Take some motion sickness pill before you take the bus up to Camerons. Maybe going up ain't that bad, but coming down can be quite horrible. If you take the train, you gotta stop at Tapah and change to bus or cab. I'd recommend you to stay in Bala's Chalet. Wonderful scones. The staff would conveniently pick you up from the bus stop in Tanah Rata. They'd send you to town whenever you need a ride. No extra charge at that too! www.balaschalet.com
Penang, if you're going from KL, I recommend the 24 seater bus or was it 28.. 3 seats across, very comfortable, cost somewhere about 22 ringgit and its the red busses called Konsortium. You can take the Plusliner but... it Cost the same if not a ringgit more and the seat ain't as comfortable as Konsortium's.

all suggestions were great, listen to them. one thing you MUST observe, the road going up cameron is nerrow and winding. you must prepare yourselves before going-up or coming down. i warn this as i could see you 2 are senior travellers.
