Heritage Hotel Cameron Highlands

We did a last minute booking after we decided to go for a cool holiday for only one night. We were lucky even though during peak period in Chinese new year, booking thru internet still has last room to offer. The environment is good when we arrive before check in time, we were given a clean room, the check in was done smoothly. If you spend your money and time for holiday and there is nothing much to complaint, then it is good. The breakfast is inclusive, the quality is above average.

I was rather apprehensive about booking rooms at Heritage Hotel after reading mostly negative reviews at another travel site but we went there anyway and found it turned out to be a pleasant stay.

Unique Quality: Cheaper than many places. Very clean bathroom although the rooms clearly don't look newly renovated but not worn out either.

Staff speaks English well.

Considerate staff at reception who gave us rooms with connecting door although I did not ask for it nor knew they had such rooms. They were also receptive to comments and complaints. I pointed out to them that the door leading to the lift on the 2nd flloor was creaky and they thanked me for informing them.

Good room service. I asked for a toilet roll and they sent two!

Directions: If approaching Tanah Rata via Simpang Pulai road, you will see the Convent school on the hill top as you enter the town. You will also see a market-like area on the left. Heritage Hotel is after that.

The Heritage Hotel is located on top of a hill overlooking Tanah Rata... The hotel is of Tudor design, typical of many buildings around the Cameron Highlands township of Tanah Rata and Brinchang... The rooms are functional but not luxurious and comes with a balcony~ with the normal amendities such as hot & cold shower and bath, CTV with selected Astro channels, IDD telephone and refrigerator... Like all hotels in Cameron Highlands, there is no air-conditioning int he rooms... The hotel is popular with Japanese and Korean visitors...

Unique Quality: Breakfast is served at The Rainforest Coffee House... There is also the Jasmine Garden Chinese Restaurant... For after dinner drinks, one can go to The Vintage Bar... The hotel also has a Health Club with sauna and jacuzzi facilities...

Directions: At the end of the road from Brinchang, take a left turn infront of the Convent School and Church... Drive straight up the hill to the hotel...

I love to put up at this hotel whenever I'm in Cameron. Where else can you get a decent 3* digs at reasonable prices near a bus station? Other than the damming climb to the top of the hill, this place offers :

1)clean but spartan rooms that smells a little dank,
2)gym,
3)sauna,
4)a buffet breakfast together with the price of the room (USD$52-73 for a double).

Just make sure you book your rooms online before making the trip*. This hotel is very popular amongst the local Christians. Guess there is this thing about mountain retreats and the physical proximity to God. And talking about Christians, a few did cast me strange looks when they caught me cussing whilst climbing the damm hill with an enormous backpack.

Unique Quality: 1)Heritage is perched on hill overlooking the whole of T Rata so expect some decent views from your room balcony.
2)The steamboat at the hotel is quite yummy too but I can't say much for breakfast (bleah).
3)It's situated at Tanah Rata which is essentially a backpacker's haven.

Directions: It's near the entrance of the town, within walking distance from the T. Rata bus terminal. Just look out for the prominent SRK Convent School, the hotel is behind it. Yes, it's right atop a hill.

Visitors to this hotel should choose the higher levels (i.e. 2nd to 5th Floors). Better view and cooler nights.

Unique Quality: Nice architecture. A mixed of European and Local flavours. A good western restaurant and a chinese restaurant that serves good steamboat.
