    Budget Hotel and Travellers Lodge

    by

Friendly staff, clean rooms, only a 2 minute walk to the centre of Tana Rata.
    Very good value for money.

They have started to build a shopping centre in front of the hotel a few years ago. But due to a financial crisis, there are no investors anymore. So that´s why the view from the balcony is not so nice as the name of the hotel tells you..

Directions: Just go to the Tanah Rata busstation and they will pick you up within five minutes.

    Comfortable and friendly guesthouse

    by

The Hillview is a friendly and clean guesthouse with nice rooms, each with balcony. Prices range from about 10 RM (sharing room) to 120 RM (family room). If there is no one waiting at the bus station, just call them and they will pick you up and also bring you back to the station when leaving. The owners are very nice, we could look at many different rooms at different prices and choose the one we liked best. The double rooms for about 60 RM all have shower. Towels are provided, if not, ask for them.

Unique Quality: Every floor has a comfortable common room with TV, under the stairs there is a small "library". They also arrange for different daytrips. Internet access is provided as well as laundry services and a safe.

This picture was taken from the back of the nice farmer's pickup who gave us a lift to the tea plantation as the thunderstorm was already very near. He even refused to take money from us when arriving.

Which guest house is better?

by xphossis

This is my first time to Cameron, so I'm wondering which guest house is better? Any reccomendation?

I know there is Bala's Chalet, Father's Guest House, Daniel's Travellers Lodge and Hillview Inn.

And do I need to book in advance? I'm planning to go on 2nd Nov.

I stayed in Daniel's travellers lodge before. It is quite nice. There is a jungle bar behind the lodge and they will have campfire and someone singing everynight.

We checked on Father's GH as well, the advantage of Father's GH is they have internat access. But you need to walk for a long distance and a long staircase to reach there. The environment is good, but the single room is quite small, without window.

I went there last year ,around the same time as you do without booking.

Thnx for the info.

Wat about the cleanliness of both inn? Is there individual bathroom or shared?

Wat bout Bala's Chalet? I wan to know wats the diff between RM44 budget and RM88 standard.

Thnx in advance

Both GH mentioned above are not new, but clean. We stayed in Daniels lodge double room with attached bathroom. I think similar to most of the gh, you have a lot of choices whether to have shared/attached bathroom, depends on the money you paid.

I never stay in Bala's chalet before so I have no idea how it is. By the way, where do you get the information from? The prices of the gh on cameran may vary according to the season. Usually they will charge higher during year end.

So which do u prefer Father's or Daniel's?

Internet acess is not important to me, but wat i wan is cleanliness and easy access around CH.

Thnx

Daniel's lodge is nearer to the main road. Especially to the night market, restaurants, bus terminals ect while there is quite a distance walk from father's GH. We chosed Daniel's GH for the reason of the 'window'. A room without window looks stuffy for us.

Just realized that you are going in a big group. If that is so, i suggest you better book the room in advance..

i stayed at the fathers guesthouse and found it pretty nice and very freindly.
i dont know the other one so i cant say anything about it.
most places in malaysia seemed very organised and nice to me so i dont think you should worry too much.

Thnx all for the reply.

btw, I'm not going in a group, just me and a friend :)

I think I will stay in Daniel's Lodge.
