Honeymoon - Malaysia
by sydgirl
Hi,
I am thinking of going to Malaysia for my honeymoon next early October.
I want to stay a few days in Kuala Lumpur and then go to Langkawi for a few days. Should I stay 10 days there? or is that too long? Also where else should I go, i hear Penang is a no no.
I want to go somewhere romantic, clean swimable beaches where the water is crystal clear.
All we want to do is relax, swim, snorkel, do a little shopping.
I've been recommended Tanhung Rhu resort? Has anyone been, would like to hear about it.... Whats the beach like there?
All info will be much appreciated.
Thanks

Where have you heard Penang is a 'no no'?
It's capital Georgetown is an interesting, historic city with great food and a good nightlife.I know the beaches are not great but they are OK.
I have visited Penang three times and I think it is great.

The East Coast is very romantic, especially the stretch between Kuantan and Kuala Trengannu: 200 miles of unspoilt, white, sandy beaches, coconut palm trees, kampung houses, uninhabited tropical islands, like Pulau Kapas, the famous turtle beach, where you can see the biggest turtles in the world lay their eggs, colourful markets, great snorkelling...
Cherating Resort, Kuantan is in an ideal location. i lived in a kampung house on a beach, just south of Kuala Trengannu for two years. It was paradise. I'll put some pictures on my VT site soon.

Hi,
Penang is definitely a no no if you want romanticism! But you can take a day trip by boat from Langkawi to spend a day in Penang to see the main attractions.
The rest you seem to be interested in doing fits Langkawi perfectly! I am sure you will really enjoy yourself!!
Have fun!

Pantai Lagenda Golf & Country Club

The 18-holes par-72 course plays to 6,090m from the blue tees... The course is set in its natural surroundings for which the club terms the Natural Habitat areas... This is where there are birds and other small animals making it their home...
The Links (1st) Nine plays to 3,051m while the Forest (2nd) Nine is a tard shorter 3,039m... The course is rather flat with grassland vegetation and short shrubs... There will be problems finding wayward balls in these areas... The course has it fair share of water hazards... With its proximity to the beach, there is the occasional fresh breeze but generally the course is rather hot with and absence of tall trees... Buggy is on fairway as there are no buggy tracks... The clubhouse has a golfer's terrace with limited food and beverage selections as the course is usually under-utilised... The men and ladies changing rooms are of acceptable standard...

Kuantan Buddhist Temple

The grounds of Kuantan Buddist Temple encompasses a lake & hill view, the best feng shui ever - water and hill. We bought 3 packets of bread to feed the fishes & turtles in the lake, and within minutes, the bread is gone.

"Still Under Construction"
We left Cameron Highlands at 0945 hrs and arrived at Swiss Garden Hotel, Kuantan at about 1600 hrs. Its basically because we took the Tapah route from Equatorial Hotel in Cameron Highlands, which is the longer and windier route down. It took us almost 1.5 hours just to get to Tapah toll exit. We had an hour lunch break at Restoran Jejantas Sg Buloh till about 1330 hrs. A little bit of traffic jam at KL, especially near the Kepong exit. The rain slowed us quite a bit, as visibility was quite bad.
So, upon arriving Kuantan, I was dead tired.

"Bukit Sungai Lembing"
This is the place to go, for a great view of the sunrise... unfortunately, after rushing 5 hours from singapore, climbed up the numerous uncountable and uneven steps in the wee hour of the morning with the help of dim torchlights, we were greeted with thick mist curling around the "mountain"..
Nevertheless, the view is great.... almost like gazing deep into a dream... :P
"an "olive" branch.."
This hill looks high, but believe it or not, it's only a few hundred steps to climb... a bit uneven though, so do bring a strong torchlight and a bottle of water..
"As the sun rises..."
a mist-covered mountain from atop Sg Lembing...
