If you're exploring the East Coast of Malaysia (like say, KUANTAN), then you MUST stay at Club Med Cherating.
You'll be forgiven for thinking that you've just entered into a 18th century Malay fishing village... for that's how this resort has been built to look like. Situated about 47 kilometers away from KUANTAN, Cherating is where Asia's first Club Med is located.... on a lovely beach fronting the pristine waters of the South China Sea.
Do take note that Club Med Cherating is closed during the monsoon season beginning from November right up to February. Don't come during this period.

Help! Trying to find the most efficient way to get from Club Med Bintan off Singapore to Club Med Cherating above it in Malaysia.
Can any one out there tell me the quickest way to get from Singapore to Cherating on Malaysia's east coast by rail or bus? Any web links?
Regards
Rayman
Definately by bus. U should go across to the Malaysia border and purchase a ticket to Kuantan, Pahang. Kuantan is the Pahang state capital and Cherating is very near to Kuantan. From there, u can take either the taxi or bus. Hope this help. No train to east coast, i think and train are very slow.
Club Med does offer transport to their resorts. Have you talked to them about arranging for transport considering you are moving from one branch to another?
The quickest way involves flying but it is expensive too. Hence usually people travel to Kuantan from Singapore (via coach) if they don't drive.
Most of these long distance coaches leave early morning around 9-10am and then late evening around 8-10pm. It may mean there is some difficulty for you in getting the buses you want as soon as you leave Bintan.
I will be going to a conference towards the end of May at Club Med Malaysia, and would appreciate some info regarding what there is to do and see in the surrounding area's. I have looked at the hotel website, but that is really limited to the resort only.
Thanks for any help
Regards
Mike
