Looks can be deceiving
by pinawalt
The Impiana looks 'tired' and could do with an upgrade. There's lots of dodgy workmanship and the place is in dire need of repair. The only saving grace were the friendly and very helpful staff both in reception and at the Restaurant/Cafe. They were only too willing to help and advise on food choices and more than happy to explain the different dishes available. Nothing was too much trouble for them and even the head chef was really nice and helpful and very proud of his dishes and we thought this was well deserved. The room itself was quite nice and overlooked the beach so we were fortunate enough to see the sunrise every morning and they were quite beautiful. Thank goodness the food was nice and well priced otherwise it was a bit of a hike to get to an outside eating place. The other nice 'feature' was the monkeys that were on the resort. We enjoyed the food and the friendly staff but we a bit disappointed with the hotel itself.
Unique Quality: The beach was quite nice and well worth the walk. The food was nice and well priced. The breakfast buffet was really good.

Not many people can recommend you the best beach at this time of the year, it's the monsoon season. It may spoil your holiday,

I agree with limkokwan. If you are going now you will not enjoy the beach. If you are going after february I would recommend the beaches of cherating. A quiet beach will be the impiana Cherating.

Travel Tips for Kuantan
Kelab Golf DiRaja Pahang
by chiabh
The club is also known by its English name Royal Pahang Golf Club... The 18-holes par-72 course is flat, being beside the sea at Teluk Chempedak... The course plays to 6,898 yds with both the First and Second Nine at 3,498yds from the blue tees... It is one of the few courses with measurement in yards... The First Nine has some difficult holes for high handicappers especially with long carry over water hazards... The tighter Second Nine plays along the beach for the first 4 holes... The fairway is of cow grass with matured trees along the buggy track and tee-box areas... It is cool when there is fresh breeze coming from the sea... Buddy is on track... The clubhouse comprises the golfer's terrace, karaoke room and bar... There is driving range as well as a well stocked pro-shop... The men and ladies changing room are a bit tired but functional...
Restoran Another One Eatery
by chiabh about Restoran Another One Eatery
The restaurant is sited in a corner 2-storey shophouse... It is more like a mini food court with stalls selling wanton mee, curry laksa, economy rice, pan mee... Of all the stalls, the speciality is pan mee... It is known throughout and out of Kuantan... The stall is operated by an enterprising young man... You can have kah-liu for you pan mee... Large prawns are added at about RM2 each... The soup is prawn base which makes it different from other preparatin of pan mee...
The stall opens from 6.30am and is usually sold out by 11.00am... It is closed on Wednesdays...
Visit to the Orang hasli
by barbskie
The highlight of most tour here is a visit to an 'Orang Asli' (Aborigine) settlement and witness their way of life. The natives will enlighten you of their way of hunting using a blow-pipe. An added bonus, when in season, is the startling beauty of pink lotus in full bloom.

"Nice Beach"
i'm not too sure what Kuantan has. I'm into their beach.
To drive up north from Singapore will take you abt 4-5hrs, depends on how fast you drive. Considering the additional hours if you go by Woodlands checkpoint then you should add in about 1-2hrs more.
Driving on the trunk roads of Kota Tinggi, Mersing, Rompin is a nice drive as compare to the North-south Highway. A lot of curves and some thrills over-taking the big trucks and lorries.
Has it is commonly known that when it come to weekends and public holidays...these places are sure to be swarmed by kids and their family...hahaha...expect lots of screaming and running around. For peace and tranquility, come on the weekdays then..... =P
Nevertheless, it was sweet, with us cam-whoring underwater with our new olympus waterproof camera. We did have so much fun. For the relaxation....we visited Bayou Spa. With the given promotion on Balinese massage.....mmmm....we felt so good and so refreshed. Well-worth short getaway together. i liked!

"Kuantan"
We stopped over in Kuantan, But i must admit i wasn't all that immpressed The Swiss Garden Hotel was ok , The beach was uninviting woun't rush back, the town is quite industrial and i would think most of the visitors are there on business
A veiw from the pool area looking towards the beach
