Looks like a diamond, but doesn't sparkle at all

When we arrived at the Resort we thought it was quite beautiful, but after spending 5 days, too many, there, we couldn't wait to leave. The staff at the Garden Terrace were terrible. No smiles to be seen and definitely not friendly in any way shape or form. The tables were never clean or ready for service so we had to set out own table and for a 4 star resort, this is pretty pathetic. Couldn't believe that we also had to get our own coffee/tea. This is the first time that we've experienced this at a 4 star resort. The staff definitely weren't that friendly or that helpful, which is a shame because the resort itself is quite lovely. The noise was terrible almost 24/7 with a lot of banging and clanging by both other resorts guests and the staff who seem to work at all hours of the day and night. Definitel not a relaxing resort to stay in. On our last night there, they had a function on our floor (we were on the second floor) that was quite rowdy and went until the small hours of the morning. Other guests complained but they did nothing - they obviously dont car too much about the hotel guests but are more interested in the company functions that they do. Would we stay there again? Not on your life. We did give them a bad review on their forms, but I'm pretty sure they are only for show and no one will read them. We have travelled a lot and stayed in other resorts and this would have to be the noisiest and most unfriendly resort we've experienced so far. A big thumbs down.

Unique Quality: The actual resort is quite beautiful as is the outlook and walking along the beach is quite nice.

Swiss Garden Kuantan

Swiss Garden Kuantan is located at the Berserah Beach about 11km away from the famous Teluk Chempedak. We booked a Seaview deluxe room for our 3rd Honeymoon. Room Facilities generally up to standard, with free Wi fi, adequate room service and house keeping, and with balcony facing pool and beach.

I would particularly give compliment to a few F & B Outlet in Swiss Garden Kuantan.
The Parrot Bar is a small shack set beside the beach which give you a serene chill out overlooking family beach outings, water sports and lovely couple walking along the beach, a male waiter on duty is friendly, have a great chat with us. though, drinks are a bit pricey, RM60+ for 3 bottle of Heineken.

The Blossom Chinese Restaurant is my best recommendation for food, food served delicious, and great customer service from the Only chinese waitress. Good Recommendation from her and your needs are well taken care of, whether you need something or you are not in need of something, she will be dropping by to check with you. I shall assign a big kudos for her warm hospitality and not forgetting the helpful receptionist in the Restaurant. Price wise acceptable, they do served steamboat and buffet with only RM39++ per head.

We only went to The Terrace for inclusive buffet breakfast. Not too good, very crowded, variety of food very less and replenishment is slow also.

Overall, we had our pleasant Honeymoon in Kuantan

Nice Escapade

The check-in and check-out procedure kind of long and involve some waiting even though we have already booked before hand. You should ask for rooms facing the pool as the garden-view rooms seemed to be very secluded and the views are certainly not nice. The pools are big but still during peak season or school holiday, the pool area can be quite packed. Rooms are spacious but too bad the not much choices on the TV programmes.

Unique Quality: Have a very nice cafe, complete with 2 cabanas overlooking the pools and beach where you can have a romantic dinner at considerable price.

Too Strict!

Probably one of the most strict hotels in Malaysia... we stayed in this hotel only for one single night and that was already one too much... we arrived around 9pm else I would move immediately to somewhere else...

The looks are okay, nice swimming pool, some design and the room is okay, not top but okay. You have also the Hyatt Hotel and Merlin Inn 5 minutes from this hotel with much more nightlife, bars, restaurants, MacDonalds and KFC. For us was the peace around the Swissgarden and the playground the reason to stay instead of the Hyatt....

After we checked in, we walked around the hotel and found a little bar on the ground floor with 3 Asian girls in too short tight pants trying to sing. When we entered the bar, the manager asked us immediately to leave because our kid was forbidden to enter the bar... Explain him that our kid don't drink any alcohol but he still refused... Even a small talk with the hotel manager didn't help anything... From previous experiences we know that kids can enter a bar in Malaysia so long they don't drink any alcohol and are accompanied with their parents...

But that was not all. The next morning we found out that the playground in the hotel was closed. It was ready to be used but for no reason closed. And try that to explain to a crying kid of less then 2 years old that he can not use the playground! We even picked this hotel because they got a playground!!!

Next accident was the jacuzzi in the swimming pool. We took our son into the whirlpool and one of the pool guys came directly to COMMAND us to get out of the jacuzzi because kids under 16 years are not allowed to use it... WHAT THE HELL!!! My kid sits on my lap and don't disturb any other guest in jacuzzi (we were even ALONE) and then we have to get out!!!

To describe how narrow minded and strict this hotel is... when we checked out, the hotel boy was pushing our luggage to our car... he had to use an elevator at the other end of the hotel and because I got some expensive camera equipment with us and especially in Malaysia I don't let my luggage one second out of my view, I had to walk with him the entire way and on the ground floor again back...

Nice hotel but if you travel with a kid, go to the Hyatt or the Merlin Inn. The Swissgarden is very strict and you can forget to use the facilities... you pay for it but you can't use it... only because you have a KID!!!

A popular hotel in Kuantan

Not too bad...

Unique Quality: There's a warong (food joint by the roadside), just outside the hotel. So, there's plenty of good and cheap food.

The front lobby needs some upgrade, the registration counter looks lost in time with rotating fans.
The room was bigger then average, breakfast was good. Overall it was a pleasant stay.

Unique Quality: Next to beach. Slightly far from town.

Singapore-Kuantan by bus/van

by sweetdiana

Hi, we intent to have a June holiday at Swiss-Garden Resort & Spa Kuantan by bus. Can anyone suggest a best deal for bus ticket from Singapore-Kuantan for 24 people. We also intent to rent two vans upon reaching there for a day tour. Any suggestions? Will there be a nearby shopping center or foodcourt?

Hi!
i try to help you by giving my information.

well i have known some guys who involve i travel agency. perhaps they can give you some guide, itinerary and transportation. i m quite familiar with kuantan coz i was working in Kemaman before.
therefore i know some guys who can rent coaches & vans. there are shopping complex in Kuantan, so do the food court.
then i think you had better go to have dinner in Cherating coz its near to swiss garden resort. it takes around 30 minutes to arrive there, so do Kuantan town.
ask local to go to BULAN BAR or RIVERSIDE BAR coz much happening there. You can enjoy ur night life at LEGEND DISCOTGUE. the most happening clubbing place so far.
If you have much time try to discover Pantai Kemasik, cherating Beach, and chendor beach.
Don't forget to have some cup of coffee in Hai Peng Restaurant, Kemaman ( Amongst the popular kopitiam in Malaysia )
go to Centra Point shopping Complex in Kemaman, if you need some helps. Meet a guy name JAI at YANI'S COLLECTION at groundfloor. They are all my buddy and really friendly and kind!
Hope to hear from you soon!!
