As most people stay at Salang Beach, Paya Beach is less known (which is a good thing). Paya Beach Resort is located Tanjong Gemok of Pulau Tioman. The entire place is very much nicer than those resorts at busy Salang Beach. Standard Chalet : RM180 with breakfast.
- Restaurant which serves nice food - Dive Centre - Swimming Pool - Spa (But I don't think is in operation) - Nice beach front - Big rooms (Standard chalets or Deluxe chalets) - A duty free shop (Tioman is a duty free island. Cheap liquor anyone?)

It was a short 3 days 2 nights holiday over the Labour day weekend. Most of the resorts were fully booked. We had no choice but to book and stay in Berjaya Tioman Suites - 3 Bedrooms Penthouse. We stayed on the 7th storey located high up on a piece of flat land . Fully air-conditioned including the living hall and kitchen. The room upstair comes with a king-sized bed, balcony, TV and attached bathroom. The 2 rooms below, 1 comes with a queen-sized bed and the other with 2 single beds. Both sharing a common bathroom directly opposite. I will recommend this hotel to anyone who has the buget and with a minimum group of 6 in order to maximise your dollars.
All our rooms come with a balcony and a great sea and sunset view. We can see the swimming pool from our main entrance door. There is supposed to be a steam room in each male and female swimming pools' bathrooms but we did not use because we were busy diving and chilling out in our superb penthouse. There is unlimited supply of ice cubes from the ice-machine located beside the pool and barbeque pits for you too. There are buses to ferry you from your Berjaya Tioman Suites to Berjaya Beach & Spa Resort at every half an hour intervals. It takes only 5 to 10 minutes. On the way, you will get to see their beautiful golf course, private beaches, Sea Sports Centre, Villa, Dive Centre, private jetty, football field, basketball court, helicopter landing area and etc. Theme: HotelPrice: US$40-80 » Currency ConverterComparison: more expensive than averageAddress: Berjaya Tioman Suites, Pulau Tioman, P.O. A nice place to chill out. The only place to stay on Panuba Beach. There is a dive centre attached to it. Dive Centre is Bali Hai. Panuaba is next to ABC Beach. Sometimes, if the speedboat doesn't go to the Panuba Jetty, alight at the ABC jetty and take a boat taxi there. Boat taxi costs RM5 per pax per trip. There is a quiet beach and the beach is swimmable and quite nice for snorkelling.
Good views of the ocean from the rooms. Rooms all face the sea. There is a restaurant which serves reasonably-priced food. An AC Double Room is RM98. Email them to book. There are cheaper rooms and for those who are looking for family rooms, do check out there website. PayaBeachResort by xuessium I have never stayed here but I always get to walk past the resort on my way down to the beach from Tioman Paya Resort. It is older than the Tioman Paya Resort so more wear & tear are evident.
You will have to check the website below for more details.

This is the only place with a good stretch of white sandy beach!!! The surrounding is always clean. There're various types of room to choose: Seaview, garden view, Banana Hill, family room n etc. All rooms are equipped with toilets. The best chalets are No 15, 16 n 17...they're right in front of the beach! They also have chalets on a hill (Banana Hill). I've stayed here twice...once in the room on the hill...the room was nice but need to climb up a flight of stairs so it was a bit tiring...n once in the room in front of the beach...really cool...sightseeing was just on the doorstep. It's nothing like Berjaya Resort or other 5 star resorts...expect basics but there're a few ac rooms with hot water. For someone who're only in the room during sleeping time...like myself...would be most suitable...Room rates are around RM60-RM180. Service was fine...I always get what I want on time...fresh towels...bedsheets...n etc. If you need reading materials, there's a mini library at the reception counter. You may consult the receptionist for this. Interested to go island hopping, snorkeling, fishing n other water activities? Just drop by at the resort's Beach Equipment shop n consult the workers. They're very2 helpful n friendly. If you need anything to buy...just hop in its mini mart. The thing I like most bout it...everything here is well arranged n very organized. Unfortunately, you may not find everything here...it's just a small size shop. There're plenty of hammocks tied up to coconut trees along Salang Sayang...really nice. Need to be fast to book your favourite hammock...they're occupied most of the time. Some tourists even chose to sleep in it...cool... It's wise to make early reservation...the place is always packed... Through my experience n interviews with some locals...the place has always been favoured by many foreigners...infact..in one of my stay...my bestfriend n myself were the only Malays there...suddenly we felt as if we were somewhere else...not in Malaysia!!!! Hahahahah
The view is great here....especially if you check in into chalet 15, 16 n 17. Don't have to go far for the view...seating by the veranda is enough for sightseeing... My stays at this resort had been very pleasant because of the seclusion and friendly staffs but it wasn't the same anymore since it was upgraded. Things are more expensive. There are more new staffs and were less friendly. Although they have most of the resort facilities including a spa and massage services but they are expensive. There is a swimming pool for those who are allergic to seawater but the water is not as clean as those in Singapore. There is a shabby karaoke room with no one singing. A changed dining restaurant with new settings, menus and prices. There were many cats roaming around while we were having our meals. Do avoid public holidays and weekends because they charge 50 Singapore dollars extra per person for public holiday and 20 Singapore dollars per room for weekends.
You can try discover scuba diving at their swimming pool just to have a feel before taking up scuba diving out at the open sea. The beachfront seaview rooms are just a few steps from the beach. One can get a tan at their verandah without going to the beach. All the rooms are air-conditioned with attached bathrooms. There is a TV in each room but with limited local channels. There were no TV programs at all during my last trip there. Even though I did not stay here before but I'm shocked to know that Berjaya Tioman Beach/Spa/Suite Resort may not be the best resort in Tioman island. Japamala is a boutique resort in the heart of nature. Hidden amidst 11 acres of lush tropical rainforest are 4 exotic villas & 6 charming chalets, flanked by a quiet beach. In true seclusion, this resort is often besieged by nature-lovers & honeymooners or those who yearn to simply self-indulge.
In its naturalistic state, Japamala's magnificent landscape is designed by natural streams, steep cliffs & towering boulders on which some of its Malay kampung-styled chalets on stilts sit. While these chalets offer the most hypnotic ocean views of the South China Sea, those hidden up in the forested canopy allow a life of uninterrupted pleasure. Imagine the simplicity of the traditional living space adorned with a modern chic. Japamala aspires to evoke your inner senses by leading you on a unique journey of Asian Experience - a refine blend of gourmet, green space & great recovery from a hectic lifestyle. by wufei The tropical paradise of Tioman Island is located off the east coast of Peninsula Malaysia. The island's only international standard hotel, Berjaya Tioman Beach Resort offers 400 style chalets & elegant suites spread over 200 acres with its own 18 hole international championship golf course. The resort has 12 choices of dining outlets and convention and banquet facilities are also available for groups of 20 to 400 persons. In addition to the many water sports activities available, you can enjoy horseback riding or take an unforgettable glass bottom boat ride to view the outlying reefs. Miles of sandy white beaches and its surrounding waters promise diving enthusiasts a wondrous oasis with coral and fish life found in the South China Sea.
