"Set on a hill of giant rocks and flowering plants, all the chalets have verandahs with open views out to sea. Built of varnished wood in a traditional, airy Malaysian style, the chalets have windows that open from the roof to the floor and a ceiling fan to waft the air. They are simple, comfortable and beautiful. We supply a kettle with tea and coffee so you can start the day in a leisurely way on the veranda. There is a mosquito net for those who want to sleep with the windows open but this isn't necessary when the windows are closed since all the louvered doors and windows are meshed on the outside. (Please note that the mosquitoes are non-malarial on Tioman). We don't use air-con because we feel that being next to the sea on a breezy hill makes it unnecessary. Tioman is a place to be part of nature not cut off from it." From Bamboo Chalet's website
Unique Quality: Great little spot looking out over the beach.
This is a perfect place for those who want to stay in a quiet place, away from the crowds and inquisitive ones.
Unique Quality: The Chalet is amazing, will adequate amenities (bathroom, hot water shower ..etc), CLEAN and with an fabulous vista.
Directions: Bamboo Inn is on the far end of the Air Batang area.
The speedboat dropped us at the Air Batang pier and from there, its about a 15 minute walk to Bamboo Inn.
A very pleasant stay if you like rustic, basic and close to nature.
Very close actually, the trees surround the chalets situated on slight cliff embankments that step down to the beach, giving you that privacy that most chalets on the beach don't. Bamboo Hill chalets were the only ones on this stretch of beach that had beautiful, pink and purple flowers decorate its entire hillside. Very pretty indeed.
Unique Quality: The good thing abt this place is you just pay for the accomodation, per night and as there are tons of other places that have restaurants, no food cost or package cost is included.
I found this to be in our favour actually, since sometimes we dont want everything the resort throws in for a package. And it worked out great cost wise.
As it is popular, best to book a month or two in advance.
It's well worth it! u wont regret it.
stay in chalets,
basic RM 25 pay extra for AC
i stayed at tioman guest house,ABC beach.
they organized a snorkelling /beach trip usually RM 65.
don't know swimming ?no problem they supply all accessories and moral support.
rated diving schools for scuba diving nearby..
Unique Quality: this was taken from my veranda
it was high tide and evening sunset
half the tree was submerged .
Bamboo Hill Resort is a lovely place perched on the hillside at the end of Air Batang village. The wooden, Malaysian-style chalets are surrounded by beautiful plants and landscaping.
The resort has only 6 chalets available for guests, so it is advisable to book at least 3 or 4 months in advance to get the chalet you want.
At RM120 per night, the biggest chalet sleeps up to 5 guests. It has a small kitchen with utilities for light cooking. The chalet has steps leading directly to the beach.
The second largest chalet costs RM100 per night at sleeps up to 4 guests. A fridge is available in the room.
The other 4 smaller chalets sleep up to 3 per night and costs RM70 per night.
The location of the resort is ideal as it is quite self-contained, but at the same time, guests can easily access restuarants and shops in the village.
Unique Quality: - All rooms with ensuite
- Cold shower
- Tea and coffee-making facilities in the rooms
- Free drinking water

Great place to stay in Pulau Tioman
Ideallyic hut on a beach.
Cheapest hut RM70 per room per night consists of a bathroom (no hot water though) with a toilet and shower and a bedroom.
Balcony has a fantastic view out over the beach and sea. Beautiful for watching the sun rise and set
Basic accommodation but perfect.
Reception has internet (only one computer though so sometimes you have to wait)
Seems to be one of the better places to stay on the island.
It can take 30 mins to walk to from the airport which isn't always a good idea with all your luggage in the heat.
Can get a water taxi straight to it for RM15 - 20 per person. Be prepared to get your feet a bit wet though as they just come onto the beach.
Unique Quality: The balcony, perfect for sitting watching the sun rise and set
Anywhere on Tioman would be good for me but Bamboo Hill looks out over ABC beach (Ayer Batang Beach). They have 6 self contained chalets from 70RM up to 120RM per night.
The chalets have fridges, toaster, spring water, mosquito nets and burners.
Unique Quality: Chalet 2 is the best in my book at 100RM. Take your own hammocks and you just love watching over the sea at sunset drinking a G&T.
