Nice hotel in a leafy green area

This 3-4 star hotel has 265 rooms, and its internal structure is of the old style (see pics 2) but very comfortable and set in the leafy area near the Ipoh race course (Ipoh Turf Club).

I found the rooms to be quite large, with twin beds provided and a sofa that was large enough for a small child to sleep on comfortably. A third full sized bed can be arranged at a small extra charge. The room in the furniture is not new, but generally, we had no complaints about the room or the bathroom. Air-conditioning, in-house cable channels, hot showers and water pressure - all worked fine. There were tea & coffee making facilities provided & a mini-bar fridge.

We were allocated two rooms next to each other and our daughters enjoyed having the other room all to themselves. Everyone slept well - probably due in part to the drive and having spent all day at the Lost World Theme park.

Unique Quality: The hotel seems to be a popular venue for weddings. When we were here there were two groups taking wedding photos just outside the hotel. The car park does get crowded if there is a function.

Room guests who drive their own cars can park for free at the basement car park - just remember to get your parking ticket stamped before you leave the hotel. You can have numerous exits and entrances into the car park for free as long as you are a hotel guest.

Hotels in Ipoh...

The rooms are clean, nice beds and it has basic hotel services...
Quiet and peaceful...

poorly maintained

this hotel is newer than that of Casuarina, yet this hotel is in a poorer condition... the condition of the room was not up to the standard expectations, with several lights not working.. some of the lights were even missing..

the only plus i can say about this hotel was that it houses the restaurant "tai thong", a reknown chinese cuisine restaurant..

Unique Quality: overlooks an acre big house, a rather small built area in comparison with its counterparts.

Noisy hotel in need of refurbishment

The hotel is a large building in the need of refurbishment. The room we received was mediocre and extremely noisy because of a busy road outside and poorly isolating windows in the room. When I mentioned it to the lady in the reception, all she said was "yes".

There do not seem to be good hotels in Ipoh. Just drive to nearby Taiping that is a pleasant city with a beautiful ZOO and nice accommodation at half of Ipoh's price.

Unique Quality: The room was very noisy.
