More about Regalodge Hotel Ipoh
My new favourite hotel in ipoh
I stayed at the Regalodge Hotel for a business trip and was very pleased by the service I received. The staff are very welcoming and helpful. The location is perfect, everything is in walking distance, and close bythere is a most wonderful local buffet steam boat restaurant.
Value for money
Stayed in Regalodge Regal Suite from 20/6 to 22/6. It's our first time to Ipoh, we got lost driving in the rain on our arrival day. Guess it's a sign for me to get the GPRS...Regalodge which stands next to the Tower Regency Hotel is a far contrast in height & size, but nevertheless, provides services which might be equal or even better than it's competitor. The place is very quite and peaceful, not much cars around, but still very near to the highway which easily brings you to the Lost World of Tambun. I like the clean spacious room, and wow...LCD screen for the TV. Least expected. The staff was wonderfully helpful and the Cafe D'Village offers sufficient spread for breakfast. No doubt it's not up to the 5 star hotel spread, but it's cheap, good, tasty and satisfying. There's a restaurant across the road which was recomended by the frontdesk staff. DeeJay ARR Rest. Food there is cheap..very cheap...Try it, and you can spare the extra cash for other purposes. We were given complimentary coupons at the reflexology and it really rejuvenated us. To Regalodge Mgmt, pls maintain your reputation. We'll want to visit you again...
Probably the most decent hotel in town
The Regalodge is situated at the end of Cowen Street (old name) and is within walking distance to the famous Steamed Chicken and Bean Sprouts restuarants and other good eateries. The hotel is a no-frills 4 storey building with a simple coffee house and a spa. The room is of decent size, relatively clean with a good bed . The housekeeping staff responded quickly when we asked for air-freshners (no non-smoking rooms!) and an iron.
As Ipoh lacks any 5 star hotels, and all the so claimed 4 star hotels are really 3 star hotels with dusty rooms and soft beds, the Regalodge is really quite a good find and a decent place to stay for a night. The hotel staff was poliite and efficient with the hotel booking (even calling me to make sure I knew they did not have non-smoking rooms), check-in, and check-out.
It is a popular hotel and a well managed one. Bravo!
Good price and no problems
I had no problems at Regalodge. Check-in was quick, the room was a bit small but clean and quiet. The breakfast wasn't the most varied but for the size of hotel it was adequate and tasted fine. I knew that the hotel doesn't have non-smoking rooms, which is a shame, but not a huge put-off as I was only intending to sleep there. I didn't use the adjacent spa but did get vouchers for it. All in all, a suitable choice.
Value for money
Stayed in Regalodge for for one night and I definately got my money's worth. We approached the hotel from the back and the 1st impression fo the hotel wasn't that good cuz only the front part of the building was newly painted. But once we checked into our room the dingy 1st impression dissapeared. The room may have been small but it was clean, so was the bathroom. For a budget hotel I didn't expect to get a room with a flatscreen with so many channels with clear reception some more ( I have stayed in several hotels in Malaysia where they shouldn't even bother putting a TV in the room cuz you can't see anything on it). The hotel staff was friendly and helpful. They have free wifi, laptop rentals, and a computer in the lobby if you want a quick check on your emails which can be pretty useful if you forgot to print out the reservation voucher like I did. I will definately come back.
I will totally return to this hotel. Given an early bird discount, i think its a great bargain.
the roomy executive suite is complete with large LCD screen and a "hidden" dvd player, a wonderful combination. but if there's a swimming pool, its even better!
the executive suite is very roomy, lotsa pace to spare. sometimes sofa area is tremendously cold, coz the aircond flow is located directly along its path.
Although the room is supa roomie, the bathroom is kinda small. but its clean so i wont say much. ohh the sewage overflow every time we empty the bathtub. not so cool.
breakfast is simple. i do like the nasi lemak. well, i don't expect much but i feel the food is simple and tasty.
one thing that disturb me alot and i like to mention it. there is a distant phone ringing (as if on speaker phone mode) thru the whole day and night. its like one room away...although i didnt make any huge fuss about it but not so pleasant.
overall... its a pleasurable stay!
Nice Budget hotel
Stayed in this hotel for 3 days, overall not bad, fast check-in....actually i just like to visit Ipoh for it's nice food....and the hotel is very near to the famous ipoh kuey teow.....the room is ok...very clean....reasonable price.....many TV channel....service ok.....if i be back next time i will stay here again.....PS: book in the internet is cheaper....
Strategic location for leisure and 'makan' trip !
Stayed for 2 nites during my Feb holiday. For 2-3 stars, everything looks fine; large LCD tv, various tv programs, build in bathtubs, strategic location (near by famous makan places), (limited) car park availability, and complimentary breakfast. will be back there in future if there is special rate for regular customer ;-)
PS: room rate slightly higher, consider its only 2-3 stars hotel without pool
If you're in Ipoh, stay here!
This was a great hotel. Of all the hotels I stayed in while in Malaysia, this was by far the best. Everything worked, everything was clean and the room was a great size with a flat screen tv which you could watch in bed or on the couch. The bar fridge was well stocked with cheap items (although you had to pay for bottled water where it was usually free in other hotels). The bathroom was small, but very well equipped with soaps, razors etc. and there was also a bath which was wonderful after a very long day of travel. Staff weren't overly friendly but they weren't rude. Check-in was a bit slow considering we were the only people there, but they did have free internet available.
Only stayed one night, but could have easily stayed more.
Nice rooms with clear LCD TV reception. Rooms and toilets clean. My kids could serve internet for free. Reception friendly. Breakfast is good considering it is a 3 star hotel. Definately worth the stay!
Travelling from Ipoh KTM Station to Regalodge Station & from Regalodge to Cameron

Which exit should i take from the NS Highway!
Hi Fellow VTers
I will be driving up to Ipoh from Melaka!
was wondering which exit I should be exiting if i'm staying over @ Regalodge hotel?
1.Ipoh Selatan (139)
2.Ipoh Utara (140)
hope to hear from u all soon!
Re: Which exit should i take from the NS Highway!
not so sure where is the hotel you are staying. i suggest you could call the hotel and ask them directly as almost all hotels have their layout maps and they might be able to email it to you directly.
Re: Which exit should i take from the NS Highway!
you can exit by the simpang pulai exit (ie the exit after gopeng)... as you exit, turn right and drive straight into ipoh city centre... however, you can also exit thru ipoh selatan exit (the next exit after simpang pulai) but you will have to pay higher toll charges...
