Another YTL Hotel (same Company as Pangkor Laut Resort). Also great service, friendly staff, great food, a nice beach and the rooms are in typical Malay style.

by worm_star about Pangkor Laut Resort

Pangkor Laut is a privately owned island located three miles off the West Coast of Malaysia in the Straits of Malacca. Situated on this exotic island is the internationally acclaimed Pangkor Laut Resort. Although the island encompasses a total of 300 acres, only a fraction has been developed to house the Resort and its Estates while the rest is covered by lush and unspoiled two million year old rainforest. There are 148 Malaysian-style luxury villas in the main Pangkor Laut Resort and eight magnificent Estates in a nearby secluded cove. Every villa, suite and Estate is elegantly designed and furnished, yet complements and blends in with the surrounding natural environment. As the island is only accessible to the guests of the Resort and Estates, it makes the perfect private holiday getaway.

The Resort offers many fine dining opportunities, a wide range of facilities and activities, and has been widely praised for its attentive and gracious service. Voted the second best island destination in the world by Condé Nast Traveller (October 1999 issue), Pangkor Laut Resort consistently ranks high on the itinerary of international pleasure seekers.

by Memo_Karaca about Pangkor Laut Resort

Idyllic and unspoiled, Pangkor Laut Resort blends in and complements nature,
leaving 80% of the islands 2 million year old tropical rainforest intact. Reflecting
Malaysia’s rich culture in it’s architecture and décor, she is the only destination in the world
that assures visitors a degree of privacy and exclusiveness that only this island can achieve.
With 180 air-conditioned villas resembling a traditional Malay village, great care was taken to preserve, blend with and complement the surrounding natural beauty and yet provide each
guest the welcome addition of modern luxuries. Choose to stay in spacious and elegant accommodations perched over the water in Sea Villas, Water Villas or the Beach
Villas that are right on the sand. The Hill Villas are cantilevered over the hillside whilst nature
lovers will enjoy the Garden Villas...all with their own unique distinctive style.
To provide variation to the dining experience, the resort offers fine international and local
dining at its six restaurants and five lounges set against the scenic backdrop to satiate the palate
of even the most discerning gourmet. From casual light snacks, cocktails by the sea or a lavish
dining experience, all for your indulgence!
From the 100-foot lap and freedom pools, tennis and squash courts, spa, Jacuzzi and air-conditioned fitness center to the television lounge and library, to the readily available contracted
18-hole golf course (off the island), Pangkor Laut offers very extensive facilities.
Whether you plan to explore jungle treks in the ancient virgin rainforest, or simply gaze in
wonder at the abundance of exotic animal life that include Crab Eating Macaque Monkeys,
Yellow Pied hornbills and tropical Monitor Lizards, or bask on our beautiful beaches which
include Emerald Bay, voted one of the world’s best, you are a whole world away from where your journey began.

We stayed here on our honeymoon august 2005, first impressions of our beach villa were that it was not as luxurios as we had hoped. Good facilities but basic. the island is very quiet but beautiful and natural, the only form of evening entertaiment is a nightly trio at the pool bar, all bars close at 12, however room service is available. May you also be warned about the mosquitoes that are abundant and the other wildlife that goes with an island that has a 300 acre rainforest. The spa is like heaven were you are treated as kings and queens well worth at least one visit. We will warn you the the boat trip to the island is 45mins to 1 hour not the 30 mins as described in the holiday brochure, the hotel does not accept travellers cheques and that room service alcohol is very expensive, try and take your own duty free booze. Alochol from room service came in the bottle only, you could not order single drinks and on average a bottle of spirits cost £50 and wine £40. Which is greatly annoying when you've just past duty free. There are only 3 types of cigarettes available as well on the island so stock up before you go. Overall we had a lovely holiday in beatiful natural surrounds.

One to Treat Yourself To

We honeymooned at Pangkor Laut, and resort hotels really don't get much better than this. A beautiful island, lovely staff, great food (especially at Uncle Lim's), a fantastic spa and a choice of pools (one with kids, one without) and beaches. Nice extra touches for honeymooners too, including a room upgrade, bubbly and some free spa treatments for us both, which I'm told were great.

The only slight hitches were that my wife thought that some of her chocolate went missing (but then she would say that wouldn't she!), and it is a bit of a journey to get there. Unless, of course, you can afford the helicopter transfer from KL...

Fabulous food and total relaxation

by A TripAdvisor Member

We have just returned from Pangkor Laut and it was absolutely fabulous. We were booked to stay in a hill villa which was beautiful but after three nights received a free upgrade to a sea villa because the hill villa didn't have a brilliant view due to the trees. Again the sea villa was amazing with a wonderful interior. The food at the resort is excellent in partcular the Fisherman's Cove and the sunset cruise. We didn't have one poor meal.
Although the resort was said to be full up whilst we were there we found that you didn't really see many people either during the day or night. The resort is not expanding to ensure the high level of staff attention you receive and high standards of service. We would definately return here.
The trek with Mr Yip is also very interesting and it is obvious he feels passionate about conservartion and nature.

Heaven on Earth

My husband and I stayed at the Pangkor Laut resort for the first week of our honeymoon and it was fantastic. From arriving at the stunning island on speedboat , we felt like we had found a little piece of heaven. We stayed in the spa villa which was lovely - it was a walk back to the main hub of the hotel but the views and wildlife are so interesting that it is a pleasure to take the walk. The breakfasts were vast and plentiful and the Royal Bay Beach Club where you can have lunch is really nice and the staff are lovely. All the evening meals were delicous although we found the concept at Uncle Lims - not that innovative - there was no menu but the variety of food offered did not seem to differ to much every time we went. The evenings are very quiet and this is very much a place to come and chill just the two of you. Emerald bay is just stunning and we wish we had spent more time there. We had the spa honeymooners treatment - and although it was expensive it was a treat not to be missed. Although the holiday was expensive it was worth every single penny and would recommend it to anyone.

Malaysia's most internationally-acclaimed resort is located on the privately-owned island of Pangkor Laut, one of Malaysia's few remaining unspoiled islands. Nestled amidst the exotic surroundings of the Malaccan Straits, Pangkor Laut began as a resort offering a range of 90 rustic beach chalets.

Spread over 2 of the bays, a total of 174 Malaysian-style luxury villas have been painstakingly created to blend in with and complement the natural environment. And whether you choose to stay over the water, at the beach, or on the densely wooded hillside, all rooms and suites are spacious, elegant and absolutely relaxing.

In total, there are 7 food and entertainment facilities, a fully-equipped gymnasium, a massage therapy centre, squash and tennis courts, as well as a range of water activities available. One particularly fascinating activity is the jungle trekking, taking visitors into the island's interior, with its 2-million year old rainforest.

With its breathtaking allure and unparalleled service, Pangkor Laut Resort's concept of 'one island, one resort' consistently ranks high on the itinerary of international pleasure seekers.

We are actual a local tour operator company focusing in online booking for malaysia and in the middle of refreshing our site. Do doubt Malaysia is a great destination for family trip where u can enjoy the multi culture here. I ll be happy to provide you the price of the rooms for your booking? Thanks
