Pangkor Laut Resort: Delightful hideaway!
The resort is absolutely gorgeous. There are garden villas, beach villas, sea villas and spa villas. We stayed in a sea villa, paid an extra 200 euros per day for it and I must say it was a bit disappointing. The room was small, nice but not stunning, with a nice and large bathroom.
The really nice oversized bathtube opening to the sea didn't give any privacy if you had it opened.
I was sharing the room with my son and daughter and though I was paying for 3 people, not for an extra bed, the fruit they left was a small mango one day, the other day two tangerines and the last day they even forgot to leave any fruit.
Staff was very helpful and smily but not up to treat guests in a 5 star resort. No special atention or service.
The breakfasts were extensive but they lacked the quality a place like that ought to have. Juices not freshly squeezed, huge muffins, croissants and donuts that made us loose our hunger just to look at them. The pancakes and waffles were very good though.
There are no tvs in the villas but there are cd players and you can get some music cds from the library.
All in all, a lovely place but lacking the quality and service of a 5 star resort.

Pangkor Laut: Pure unadulterated luxury
The arrival in the hotel is very welcoming. The reception is large, opn-sided and airy. We are given cool towels on arrival and the check-in papers are brought to your seat rather than you queue up at the desk. We are personally shown to the room, which is the furthest away from the reception area, and allegedly, the one with the best views of the China Sea. We are staying in one of the overwater villas.
Free internet access, library with books in numerous languages, several restuarants, two pools.
There is a quiet ambience about this resort, no shouting, screaming, splashing, loud music or even loud talking.
Outside the front of the room is a covered porch with a seat, light and umbrella in a large vase. A huge "cow-bell" forms the door bell.
The room is very spacious with a queen sized bed, chaise longe and an enormous balcony out the back where two sun loungers look lost. Colourful fish swim around the support poles of the villa, and water monitors relax on the rocks. There is a CD player in the room and a free CD library by the reception.
The bathroom is XXL with a toilet that cobverts to a bidet, an XXXXL marble bath with a shower head set into the ceiling. The bath is in an extension to the main bathroom, so has windows on three sides which open out to the sea. The bath is actually so big that there is more than enough room for two people in it - and we're not exactly small!
I have never come across a hotel when you can specify what time you would like turn-back service.

Swiss Court Apartments, Damai Laut, Lumut: Value for money retreat by the Sea
These holiday apartments are located at Lumut, which is NOT on the island of Pulau Pangkor.
2 bedroom apartments, 3 bed room apartments and studio apartments are available at good rates and the accomodation is suitable for larger family groups.
There is a mini kitchen where you can boil water for some drinks, and also a fridge.
Some cutlery and plates are provided.
Rather crowded during public holidays.
Better views of the sea from the 3rd floor onwards.
Views of surrounding golf course is pleasant.
I found the staff to be helpful, but not very efficient.
Supermums take note: Pool at the apartment was a bit too deep for kids (average depth 4 feet)
Breakfast is served at the hotel which is 1 km away.
You may be able to get a better deal thru the internet with asiatravelmart than direct to the hotel. Price fluctuates and is higher during the Malaysian and Singapore school holiday season.

Pangkor Laut Resort: Malaysia's BEST ?
They claim to be one of the world's top hotels.
It's on a small private island opposite Pasir Bogak.
But after reading so many such claims which turned out to be jokes, you'd be advised to take it with a pinch of salt.
Anyway, this looks good. AND probably quite a good hotel.
Though not perfect yet ........ care to try ? Only RM 1 000 or so ....... very cheap

Teluk Dalam Resort: Teluk Dalam
The price to stay this resort is reasonable though there are definitely much cheaper accommodations. Valued for money with its food and services. The staffs were extremely helpful.
Getting a motorbike to travel around the island is definitely a good idea as the resort is not situated near the villages/town or beaches at the west coast.
We stayed at Tanjung Chalets. The chalets are Malay styled, built on stils and spacious with balconies. But a Melati Chalet is really good enough.
The resort is situated next to a long, nice stretch of beach, which rarely have people. You can dig into the sand and try catching some crabs. But set them free after that. Else just laze around at the beach.
Love the cats that occasionally roamed around the dining area. Kampong feel.

Pangkor Rimba Camp: Great Beach & Rainforest Surrounding Chalet
My Division visited Pangkor on the 12 May 06 for 2 nights and stayed at Pangkor Rimba Camp. This chalet is situated along Telok Nipah Beach. Although the name of this resort stated the word "camp" but it is just a name which indicated that this property also hosting a camping ground for those tourist who wish to 'stand-up' a camp instead of staying indoor.
The rooms are clean and come with attached bathroom. The environment is the most valuable asset or major plus point for this chalet because all the rooms/chalet are build within the canopy of various rainforest trees. The owner, Abang Bob, is a very friendly and flexible person in all angle. From what I had been told, Abang Bob is the President of Chalet Owners in Pangkor. His friendliness approached and ways of respecting his customer with full intention to ensure customer satisfactions is respectable.
The location of this chalet is separated from other chalet along the Teluk Nipah road strech and it is around less than 10 minutes walks from the restaurants & souvenir shops. But I think it is fair because to get such an enviroment (peaceful & greenish of rainforest), the chalet should located a bit far up.
1 restaurant and 1 small souvenir stall is in the chalet compound. The only chalet build in the beach front of Teluk Nipah whereby access to seaside is also a plus point. 1 karaoke hall also available. They also can organize great activities such as abseiling, repelling, canoeing, snorkeling, jungle tracking & others that can be bundle together with a package price.
Overall, we are very satisfied with this trip and we (35 persons) recommend this chalet for groups & individual who wanted to visit Pangkor excludes those traveller who wanted a luxury & hotel kind of accomodation.

Sea View Hotel: private beach in Pantai Pasir Bogak
I have been to Pangkor many times and always stay at Sea View. The owner of this hotel was ex-badminton player@Thomas Cup in early 60s. We always call him Mr Tan. He will be staying at his hotel 2/3 times a week. We will wait for him from his fishing trip at 7pm infront of the restaurant , which is located beach front to select our own dinner-Fresh Fish!!!
Everyone will be waiting for him and ask him how the fish will be cook and sometimes he will cook the dishes personally. We always had a good time there.
There having private long beach just infront of the hotel, and swimming pool-for my kids its a must!!
They have other facilities to like boating, fishing, canoe, tabble tennis even can arrange you for trekking and snorkeling trip.
Pangkor Laut resort @Island, located just crossing the hotel. At night the hotel view are just lovely.
