Cheap & Clean
by TheRandomBrownBoy about Tune Hotel Downtown
Knowing the fact that Tune Hotel is a sister company to a reputable company such as Air Asia, I kind of figured that it would deliver what it promises on the website, which is a 5 star bed and a power shower for the price of a 1 star. It's true. No complains about it, whatsoever. It was brilliant. The rooms may be small but what's important to me is the fact that the mattresses are new, clean and comfortable and the bathroom is equipped with a hair-dryer and a power shower.
Yes, the room is small. Think of it as an Ikea model bedroom but it's alright because it's way cheaper than any other decent hotel. The double bed rooms are equipped with windows but the twin bedrooms aren't. If you were to book 1 double bed and 1 twin bed, then the rooms would be connected. Just nice. Centrally located, easily accessible. Parking is easy. 7-Eleven is at the ground floor and many restaurants around the area. Taxis wait in front of the hotel. Simply brilliant!

Airasia

I have recently completed London - K.L.(10 hours) and Return (13.5 hours) - both non-stop. In addition I took 8 flights around the SE Asia region with Air Asia.
It is a cheap budget airline so you don't get the luxuries and have to purchase your meals refreshments etc. - this is not a hardship.
I am a "big" person and I found the seats to be comfortable - with longhaul more comfortable than the shorter trips - all satisfactory though. Outward to KL I had a tiny Swiss girl beside me - when I expressed my relief to her that two people my size had not been put together she said with a smile " I don't think it is a coincidence"!! On the 13.5 hour return leg there was noone beside me though most of the plane was full - again I suspect not a coincidence.
I also found the cabin crew to be far more helpfull than european budget airline crew.
In summary - basic but comfortable, great value, strongly recommended.
Hugh
Ps;
I also found the Tune Hotel(part of Airasia group) in the airport in KL, though basic, really handy for routing in and out of KL as quickly as possible.

Tune Hotel located at the corner of Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman and Jalan Sultan Ismail. (Jalan = Road, Street)
Walk across Jalan Sultan Ismail, and heading straight along Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman for around 20 Meter (around 650 feet) and you will reach Maju Junction, a shopping mall. There are various restaurant here, and if you are not satisfied, keep on walking to Medan Mara, where most local food are serves. keep on walking, you have Pertama complex (another shopping mall) and Sogo (Shopping Mall). The distance from Sogo to your hotel is around 300 meters.
If you dont want to go anywhere, at the ground floor of your hotel, there is Subway (the restaurant, not the underground train station)and a kopitiam (Malaysian version of coffee shop, where we usually drink coffee or tea with milk, hot and cold).
Travelling from LCC to Singapore
by termsheet
We will be landing at the Low Cost Carrier Terminal (LCCT) by an Air Aisa flight around midnight.
What is the quickest way to get to Singapore if we do not want to stay overnight?
If we are prepared to stay overnight, is there a hotel at LCCT>
Thanks

Yes there is a tune hotel owned by air asia nearby. you can stay and catch another air asia flight in the morning
stay at the terminal, pay a little and use the lounge facilities and take an early morning flight to singapore. the flights leave around 7 am..
if you are coming from a long haul flight, stay the night at tune hotel and then take a flight the next day. there is a complimentary shuttle to the hotel.(but knowing air asia they probably add a small fee)

The quickest way is taking another flight to singapore from LCCT. there are multiple carrier from KL LCCT to Singapore, but I am not sure when is the best flight for your journey. By midnight, you already miss most overnight bus going to Singapore. You will not be able to go to Singapore by train too if you arrive around midnight. The bus/train journey take about 5-6 hours. and the flight is less than an hour.
Like suggested previously, stay overnight at Tune Hotel is a better choice.
