Hotel Equatorial: Overlooking Pinang

Located at an elevation of 450 feet (which is rather high for a small island), is the Hotel Equatorial Penang. Of the hotels on the island that are close to Georgetown and also the local industry, the Equatorial Penang is probably the best choice to stay at. It is very convienent to get to the airport (less than 10 minutes), a 20 minute ride from the major industry, and less than 30 minutes from the Prangin mall and other places of interest.

The hotel boasts the largest conference center on the island in case you wanted to invite 2000 of your closest friends for a game of indoor basketball or frisbee. It also has a championship level golf course located right next door for those of you that have a day or two extra on a trip.

The hotel rooms were nothing to brag about, however they were definitely clean and my suite had a particularly beautiful view of the golf course and Butterworth Bridge. Overall, I will definitely stay here the next time I am in town, even though I could earn hotel points at other locations.

There are many B&B in the town...

There are many B&B in the town area. The pic shows a reggae pub...where it is also a B&B upstairs.
The last time I checked out the price (which was some 2 years ago)...it was only RM5 a nite for a bed in the dorm, without air-conditioning. That's about less than USD$2.

Unique Quality: Cheap and almost clean. Plus you get to meet almost all of Penang's backpackers here. This is where one of the cheapest accomodation is.
