Another budget business hotel on Penang Road
by SLLiew about Hotel Malaysia, George Town
Another 3 Star hotel at prime location of Upper Penang Road, next door to Hotel Continental and opposite to Cititel Penang Hotel.
About 130 air condition rooms with color television and coffee/tea making facilities. Also has inhouse health centre, cocktail lounge, hair-dressing salon, karaoke lounge and hotel parking.
There is a Seven Eleven just outside and Chulia Street around the corner. Plenty of eating places and night out drinking pubs around.
Good location for a Hotel
by MiZgHee about Cititel, Penang
I had a room with no view, it was all black when you look out trough the window but room was really clean. It's just a typical hotel, nothing special but it doesn't matter coz location and service is good. It's in the city centre, dining and shopping is just nearby. Almost everything is right in front of you. Just right across the hotel there is this huge food court with different virieties of food. There are also a couple of coffee shops and bars nearby just to chill out after dinner or shopping. I suggest you visit the "SLIPPERY SINORITA" a bar with live music. It's just around 5 mins walk from Cititel. You don't need to worry about the price, almost everything is cheap =). You can also ride the Trishaw to go around town, it's a bicycle with a carriage for 2 people at the back. Catch a Trishaw just beside the Cititel

Penang Hill and Penang Bridge
by parulian70
I'll visit Penang on Apr 3th, and will stay at Cititel Penang.
I plan to visit Penang Hill. How can I get there by public transport? is there any buses or train (perhaps) going to station of furnicular train in Penang Hill from my Hotel (Cititel Penang)?
I'm also plan to visit Penang Bridge. It is a same question. Is there any buses to reach that point from my Hotel? Is there a places for visitor to take a view of Penang Bridge nearby?
Thank you...

I stayed at Cititel on my last visit. There is a bus stop on the other side of the road. You can get a bus from this stop (bus is free) to go to many attractions in town.
(1) You take this bus and alight at the KOMTAR. Take another bus from the bus terminal there to go to penang Hill.
However, it's a tme consuming prospect. i will advise you take a cab, in front of the hotel and go directly. Fare - Ringitt 15.
(2) One way to see the bridge is to take the ferry 9which is free from Georgetown to Butterworth). From Butterworth bus stop (just outside the ferry terminal), you can take any bus that plies on this bridge (try to take one that goes to Komtar; that's the nearest landmark near your hotel).

If you like walking, you can walk from Cititel to KOMTAR where the bus terminal is. It would take you about 10 minutes. Buses going to Air Hitam (where Goddess of Mercy Temple is) pass Bukit Bendera (Penang Hill). So, look out for route info on buses (at the front of the buses) that show Bukit Bendera. A furnicular takes you from the foot of the hill to the summit. You can take in the sight of Penang Bridge from the Queensbay Mall (the largest there, opened in December 2007). I viewed the bridge from the 7th floor of the car park where I parked. Beautiful sight!
No pedestrians are allowed on the bridge after its official opening. Happy Holiday in Penang.

for rdxmot and keentaylor,
many thank's for your information. Such a useful information.
Penang is very beautiful city. Many conservation and heritage spot and modern area in the city and sub urban. I think the public transport in Penang is not so bad. It's a pleasure to try a public transport like bus to go around the city. Maybe other times I can comeback to visit Penang.
