Hotel That Suits Your Basic Needs
Situated in the heart of Georgetown. This hotel offers a great view of the KOMTAR tower as it is situated just a few meters away from it. A must for a guest to request a room that facing this tallest tower in Penang.
As my recent trip was quite a tight trip. This hotel is just nice for me to have my basic need such as good location, average room rate, nice bed and hot shower. Even during my 3 nights staying, I don't even remember to take picture of this hotel, just a couple of snaps from my digital video camera inside my room. What a waste ...
Anyhow, for those who are looking for good services with high class accommodation, this hotel ain't fit. But those who do not care much and just want a good place to park yourself, then I suggest this hotel for you.
During my stay, most of the guest were groups that came to Penang organized by travel agent.
The buffet breakfast is not that good but enough to fill your stomach before heading for adventures.

Downtown business hotel
This hotel is a short walking distance from Penang Road. With 23 floors and a rooftop swimming pool and panaromic city view.
Popular with budget business travel. It is a value for money business hotel.
Parking is adequate and used to have a popular high tea buffet which I have been to often.

Accomodation in Georgetown
We opted to go to Hotel Grand Continental because it has rooms for 4 adults (a family room). However, when we got there, all family rooms were taken. Reception suggested that we just get a triple room at RM122 (which consists of 1 queen and 1 single bed) and they will just add a single bed for the extra person (at RM20) Real cheap eh?
It is located at Jalan Penang across Shangri-La Hotel. It is near the GAMA supermart and just a stone throw's away from KOMTAR Plaza. It is also within walking distance to the Night Hawker Market.
The beds are okay. It is not that luxurious but it will do for a three-star hotel. The room includes a buffet that is acceptable. However, if you want to toast your bread you may want to wait in line because they only have one toaster than can toast only TWO bread at one time!!! Sheesh!!!
If you are looking for a nice hotel in Georgetown, I would suggest this hotel.
