1926 Heritage Hotel

It's now named '1926 Heritage Hotel.' I drove pass this hotel by chance and like the historical look of the front facade. So I checked in and stayed here. The rooms are located at the back of the reception block. The rooms block is a long 2 storeys building. One side of the block is facing the swimming pool and parking lot.

The room is nothing fancy. It is clean and comes with air-conditioner. The room costs RM80nett (monday to Wednesday) and RM90nett (Thursday to Sunday). There is a surcharge of RM40 on peak season and holidays. The room rates doesn't include breakfast. Breakfast will be charged RM10 extra per person.

Bathroom has hot shower. However, my complain is that the shower curtain is hung too high that after taking shower, the floor is all wet. The bed is super hard!! It's like sleeping on a wooden mattress! But I was so tired that night that I slept like a baby anyway.

The reception staffs are friendly. On my stay, they allowed me to check-in early (at 9am!) and late check-out (1pm).

The hotel is located a little bit out of the city center. If you are looking for something centrally located and convenient, this might not be the place to stay. There are many other options along Penang road that offer similar price and services.

Unique Quality: Historical look, hardwood floor in bedrooms, swimming pool.

Great Colonial Style Hotel

hotel 1926 exudes a charm of a past era with simple room decor yet comfortable... there is choice of rooms with oir without balonies.. banquet facilites includes the cafe 1926 (serving a variety of local food) and glitters vintage cafe (serving light meals in the settings of the colonial ambience)..

Unique Quality: the hotel was built in 1926 (yes, you got it right) by the british and used as residences of colonial officers serving in penang... in 1999 a major restoration and refurbishment effort transform it into what is hotel 1926...the hotel is a heritage site... and the orginal cengal wood (from pahang state) used in its construction is still in good condition...

Hotel 1926

Hotel 1926 is not a low budget hotel, located at Burma Road nearby Jalan Loh Boon Siew. The hotel is formerly terrace houses, now turned into hotel. I haven't try this hotel myself because I am a local Penang, I stay with my parents. Hotel 1926 room rates around RM100.

charm of yesteryear

guestroom features with TV, work desk, coffee/tea making facilities, telephone, mini fridge, shower cubicles, room service and spit unit air-conditional. the only con is there is no swimming pool there... by the way, it's strategically located with hawkers centre and shopping centre.

A charming Colonial hotel with a local twist

24 double-storey terrace houses built in 1926 have been restored and renovated into this charming little hotel. This cluster of buildings used to house the British colonial officers before being used as a Government staff office block.

Parking is available but limited.

Unique Quality: Quite a good location as it is right smack in the middle of town, Hotel 1926 is 2 Km
(5 minutes) from Georgetown and 12 Km (25 minutes) from the Penang International Airport.

Directly opposite the hotel is a little lane with rustic cafes where you can have a cuppa ( or three ) and some local fare.
