Beaches galore!
This place was amazing! ABSOLUTELY loved it. We arrived at night, so I couldn't see anything from my 3rd floor balcony, but in the morning, I was greeted by the pool and the ocean! The entire place, including the lobby and the restaurant, are all outside...no walls to surround you. It was a tropical paradise! The Shangri La Golden Sands resort is next door, and you can walk on the beach over to it and have lunch there and use all thier services. The Golden Sands is more of a family oriented hotel, so couples, stay away....FAR away! Besides..the Rasa Sayangs' pool is better. It even has a slide.
Unique Quality: There were natives not affiliated with the hotel, giving massages on the beach, and horseback rides. It was wonderful. You can even parasail.
The pool was great, and the bar right on the beach is always great!

very ideal place especially if u r after food :p
it's in the middle of Komtar, connecting is a link to the Shopping Centre.
If u walk out in the day behind the Hotel, cross the road n walk for 2 mins , there r alot of coffeeshop. Good food everywhere!!
At night, the taxi to Kinta Lane or Kimberly n the other streets such as chinatown etc r few RM. To Batu Ferringh, will cost RM25 per trip
Unique Quality: they have great view, the penang bridge is visible n since there view has the laid back shop houses which creates a nice pictureque side of the city.

Unique Quality: I forgot to mention that you have to pay RM 20 for utensils in your service apartment, otherwise you only get the bare essentials (towels and a small bar of soap).

Strictly for masochists
It has a website with lovely photos at http://www.srisayangresort.com but lodger beware. Our stay featured:
1. Rattan sofas with all four legs (2 broken).
2. Bed that broke when my pregnant cousin sat on it.
3. Rotten moldy bathroom doors (see photo).
4. Threadbare towels that felt like sandpaper on skin.
5. Flooding bathrooms.
We made the mistake of paying for 2 nights upfront and had to pay a cancellation charge of RM50 for cancelling after one night. But we weren't the only ones at the checkout queue cancelling.
Unique Quality: "Free parking space" which costs RM3 per day.

Beach Front Rasa Sayang Hotel
This is a very very old hotel...one of the first - I have stayed there since I was 8 years old....so it is such a grand old dame!!! Nevertheless the hotel is very pleasant, it is sea frontage, and has a Malay Minangkabau village architecture. It has also a very looked after and luscious garden with an interesting shape pool. Actually one of the pool shapes look like the S of the Shangril la hotel logo - the parent company. It also own the hotel next door - Golden sands and another hotel in the city , Shangrila Hotel.
The name Rasa Sayang - feel loved simply spells the hospitality.
At night there is a huge nightmarket outisde the hotel...and also if you are not keen in hotel food, there are lots of stall foods, proper restaurants that you can walk to.

The Shangri-La Rasa Sayang is a good place to stay. You can email direct to the sales person for a good quotation. It is one of the best resort hotels in Penang.
