I stayed on at the Sunway Hotel in Seberang Jaya for 5 weeks. The charge for an oridinary room was RM125. In Aug 2004 that equated to about 34.00 a night. Not bad considering that the hotel is probably the best appointed hotel in area (mainland side of Penang). Though it lacked a swimming pool, it made up for it in other ways. Buffet breakfast was complimentary, room was clean and comfortable, and the facilities (i.e. air-conditioning, hot water, fridge) worked well. That saying something when it comes to Malaysian hotels, where you count always count on the basic facilities working reliably. In all it was an enjoyable stay. If your a single man, be sure to check out the hotel's "health center" where you can get a professional massage for RM60. They also have a nice steam room and sauna. Too bad the changing room smells thick with tobacco smoke. Get used to it though. Heavy smoking is tolerated at most Malaysian facilities including in-door restuarants. If you do make reservations and you are a non-smoker, be sure to ask for a non-smoking room. They have entire floors dedicated to non-smoking. Once across the bridge (free this direction, RM7 going back) continue North on Highway 1. Follow signs for Butterworth, look for Seberang Jaya exit
