Nice place to relax and end a visit to Asia

After a very hectic and eventful visit to Malaysia and Cambodia, I wanted to just do nothing for at least one day before journeying back ( Singapore to tokyo 7 hours, tokyo to Dalla 11 hours, Dallas to Miami 2.5 hours etc...) and the best choice was Bayview Resort, a modern hotel and resort used mainly by Malaysians and groups from Malaysia. it is worldclass by its standards, and its location at the end of the Batu Ferringhi area is ideal and isolated. nice to walk along the beach and also sit by the pool and enjoy the sumptous breakfast. a worthwhile stay and a good place to relax and also one is away from the "touristy" hamburger joints and spaghetti places .. that is an added pleasure..
You wont meet any backpackers here..

lovely relaxing hotel

We booked for 2 nights but ended up staying 4, so much did we like this place. We booked on the web and got a good price and had a hill facing superior room. The room was spacious, modern and very clean and above all quiet! It had everything we wanted and elsewhere in the hotel the buffet breakfast was huge and the pool area really impressive. Above all else, we loved the relaxed, friendly atmosphere that this place offered...there was no stuffiness or pretentiousness about this place at all and we will definitely stay here again. Very good value for money.

Catering for everything

While I wouldn't rate this hotel as highly as some do, I was very impressed by the BayView Beach Resort. We'd stayed in two 5 star hotels prior to coming here and arriving at this one was a little disappointing, but had the trip been reversed and if we'd started here, I'm sure we'd have been thrilled with the Hotel - as we should have been.

The rooms are clean, spacious with private balconies. Bathrooms are a little outdated in places but very clean. There is a separate pool for ladies and children on the rooftop (although women are welcome in the main pool providing they wear swimwear - no extra clothing). The gardens lead right down to a beautiful, busy beach providing watersports, horse riding and (YEY!!) quad bikes.

Meals and drinks from the pool bar are wonderful. We didn't try the main restaurant as we preferred to eat out and get a taste of the hawker stalls, the menu looked great, displaying a variety of international cuisine and local dishes.

Unique Quality: The Bayview Beach Resort bills itself as "Penangs most friendly Arab Hotel" boasting halal Arabic food, a halal Chinese restaurant, sheesha, Arabic TV in the rooms, Private swimming pool for ladies only (or for rental), private seating in restaurants and free transport to the mosque for Friday Prayers. Not that I used any of these, but you could check this out:

Family holiday

The lobby looks like a 4 star hotel and the rooms look good too. Clean bathroom. The breakfast buffet is 3 star quality (RM25 per head) but It has quite a wide range of food, western and asian. Some parts of the hotel looks 3 star.

It was two days before Xmas when we were there so they had nice lights put up. Nice pool and not crowded (yet).

We had a family suite overlooking the hill (front of the hotel). The view is quite nice if you can pretend to ignore the construction going on further down the road.

Service was better than some 4 star hotels in Penang.

We used member discount vouchers so the stay 3D 2N cost us a lot less than it normally would. If you want a room at a cheaper price, call the hotel when in Malaysia or try walk-in.

Unique Quality: Nice two-roomed family suite. One room has two single beds and the other has two queen sized. Both rooms have tvs so dad and mum can watch their favourites in peace and away from the kids. Only one bathroom but what is great is that two persons can bathe at one time - there is a shower cubicle on one side and a bath tub on the other. So you don't spend a lot of time waiting for your turn to bathe!

Even has ironing facilities. Great value for the family.

Tourist accomidation

This is a great hotel, all the comforts without being over the top.It seemed to attract families and people of the late 30 to 65's age group. Being out at Batu Ferringhi means that trips into Georgetown can take awhile on public transport.
Would recommend staying if you felt that you wanted to be out of the hustle and bustle of Georgetown to relax after a hard day of being on your feet.Or for the lone female traveller it has the added bonus of being on the Ferringhi walk at night time so you can go out till late and enjoy the markets and food with the knowledge that your not going to be walking in a dark street with know one else around. In this regard it is a great choice and gives you more freedom in your night time activity no need to be TOO paraniod.
Batu Ferringhi has a strip of night markets and hawker food fair every night till 9 pm which starts or finishes at the Bayview.

Unique Quality: Aircon ,the biggest bed I have ever seen, a great bathroom..very clean, private and safe..more of a feeling of an apartment that a hotel in some regards.
The buffet breakfast has every food imaginable (but no bacon).
Swimming pool ,gym and some foot reflexologists walk the grounds it is 45 rinjit for 45 mins but they will usually go a bit longer for free up to an hour..day spa etc
Freindly staff that will be friend you and look out for you.

A comfortable hotel

Hotel is designed like a flat with a open courtyard inside. Facilities were good and room was clean with a HUGE bed- pic to follow. Room had a musty smell but was changed to an acceptable one. Staff were friendly and co-operative. Hotel leads onto the beach which is great. Although this is rated 4 star, i would say its a 3.

Bay View Beach Resort

Unique Quality: The pool is fantastic...the swim up bar is wonderful!! You can get drinks or snacks at the bar - either order them to eat at your table or sit right up at the bar. There is also a spa area, a diving area, a kiddies pool and a relaxation pool.

Bay View Beach Resort

I would recommend you spend some extra money and get a pool/seaside room rather than a hillside room...the noise from the traffic can be quite loud...otherwise just take some earplugs...they worked for me. Also take a pillow if you don't like very big or very small pillows... ;)

BAYVIEW BEACH RESORT PENANG

by SHANILILY

I would like to know if the Bayview Beach Resort in Penang has got windsurfing facilities or not. If so what are the costs and if not are there other resorts that have got windsurfing facilities. Is Pengang a good windsurfing spot???

Thanks
Shani

I stayed at the Bayview Beach Resort just one week ago and i dont remember seeing any windsurfers there or on beaches nearby. parasailing yes, and also there were many local people, enticing you to go to the nearby beaches and islets on their boats. the hotel is very good and is mostly visited by malaysian tourists and is away from the tourist bustle of the spaghetti bars and cafes and hamburger joints of ferringhi beach.

The Bayview Beach is well located .. it is at the end of the strip and a short walk in the evening to the restruants etc.
Wind surfing unfortunately you will not find at Batu Ferringhi .. and be mindful of any water sports ... many if any carry insurance.
Whilst there you must eat at the LongBeach Hawkers centre and there are many other local eating places where you can enjoy the true Penang flavour
