The Summit Hotel: Hotel with Convenience

by walterwu

The Summit Hotel comes complete with shopping complex with cinema, bowling alley and complimentary parking for hotel guests.

The hotel staffs are very friendly.

I stayed in the Suite (RM$ 558) and, also, Deluxe Room (RM$ 228).

The Suite comprises of two attached rooms with a king size bed in one room with large bath, mini fridge and tv while the other attached rooms contains a normal size fridge, in room electronic safe and another tv.

Complimentary buffet breakfast for the Suites at 20th floor Summit (wifi also available there).

The Deluxe Room was a little of a let down. Even though with comes with three complimentary bottled drinking water, the rooms disappoints somewhat. No in-room safe. However, there's mini fridge and tv.

This hotel is about 2 streets away from Sunway Lagoon. Giant, the local favourite hypermart is next to the hotel.

Free internet wifi access is available at the Hotel Lobby where you can see a number of notebook computers guests hangs around. Internet access in the room is via the power outlets (which I did not try).

Hilton Hotel Petaling Jaya: Hilton Hotel by the Federal Highway

by longsanborn

The Hilton Petaling Jaya is located in Petaling Jaya and is only 15 minutes away from the capital city of Kuala Lumpur. It is 45 minutes away from KL International Airport (KLIA).

The service was professional and friendly. The bedrooms were large, clean, and comfortable. The bathroom was very nice, posh, with marble floor tiles.

There are 563 rooms, three restaurants and a fun pub. Exercise facilities include a swimming pool, sauna and steam bath while a ballroom and sixteen meeting rooms can host up to 1000 guests. Local nearby attractions include the Genting Highlands, Blue Mosque, Central Market and Sunway Lagoon Theme Park. Every weekend, one of the restaurants have Brunch/High-Tea Buffet which were famous amongst the locals as having one of the best selection of cuisines, delicious food and value for money.

Crystal Crown Hotel Petaling Jaya: Hotel by the Federal Highway

by longsanborn

Crystal Crown Hotel PJ is located off Jalan Utara and easily accessible by the Federal Highway. The room was clean, simple but comfortable. The service was fast and friendly.

This is a 4-star hotel. Opened in January 1995, Crystal Crown Hotel has 300 rooms (ranging from Superior to Deluxe through Juniour Suites) and has established itself as a quality business hotel equipped with facilities for the modern business traveller. There was a good Chinese restaurant located on the ground floor of the Hotel.

Concorde Inn Sepang: Unexpected Poor Service

by Azri_Azmi

On the 1st of January 2007, my sister's flying off to K. Terengganu. As her flight was scheduled late in the evening, I decided not to go back to Melaka from Sepang on the same date, so I booked a well known hotel chain, the Concorde Hotel namely Concorde Inn KLIA. I checked in around 5pm by choosing the Exec.Suite room as my family is with me either.

The Executive Suite which cost RM380 was very disappointing as it doesn't' shown the value of a suite room. Only one thing that satisfied me = the bed size. The room was infested with ants. Although the size of the room is big, but the decor and design are truly old fashion.

The most incident that totally bring down my mood was the rudeness of the receptionist. At night around 9, I called up the Housekeeping extension but nobody's picking up and the line automatically jumped to the reception counter. I requested for 3 more extra pillows as safety measure for children so that they wont fall off the bed. I was being denied rudely by the reception mentioning that "I cannot give you extra pillow, go and look inside the closet if got any". I replied, "i checked the closet, but theres no pillow there. are you sure you cannot provide me with extra pillows?" She answer "No, i cant. its the hotel policy. If you really want, I can give you one more extra only". The way she toned her voice was really rude. I started to get mad and hung up the phone. Why can't a guest request for extra pillows especially its meant for safety of their children?

Later that night, I ordered a room service for 1 Sirloin Steak, 1 Fried Mee and 1 Pizza with few drinks. It took 1 hour before its being delivered to the room and to make it worst, its tasteless. Hell the price's not cheap either.

I checked out early the next morning and promised will not return or recommend this hotel to anyone. I regretted for not staying at the KLIA Pan Pacific as its my usual hotel that I used to stay whenever I am around KLIA. The intention of experiencing another hotel turns to be a bad one for me this time.

The landscape only?

Campsite Zone 5, Sungei Congkak Forest Reserve: Nice Little Campsite Not far from KL - Part II

by Wild_Orchid

Following on from the above, the answer to your burning question is "Yes, there is a toilet, but please bring your own toilet paper!"

The Zone 5 campsite is among the best in this forest reserve. Why do I say that?
Well, the other campsites (Zone 1 to 4) are rather close to the park entrance and there are more day-trippers nearer to the entrance taking up precious spots at the river.

Zone 5, by comparison, is slightly away from the crowds, and has a few good spots for bathing and splashing around. It is also close to Zone 6, which has a flat piece of field, where team-building activities can be held and games such as foot ball or a water-balloon fight could be played.

Why not set up camp at Zone 6 then, you may ask. Well, Zone 6 is further in, but the spot of river is not as good and rather shallow as compared to Zone 5. Also, it does not have as many mature, shady trees. It is basically a big field.

The picture here shows the toilet. Separate for guys and gals. Recently re-painted in a fresh shade of light jungle green.

Beware: Those squemish city types will still not like it. However, there is running water in the sinks and also from the tap outside, and the showers do work (there is no place to hang your clothings, so you'll just have to hang it over the dusty door frame) and finally, the toilets can and do flush.

If you have a group of fussy people arriving, best you pay someone to do a spot of cleaning before their arrival. Otherwise, you may expect tiny dead insects and muddy foot prints to be the order of the day.

I found it okay, and more than bearable. This is outdoor camping! hey guys, where is your sense of adventure? : ))

Campsite Zone 5, Sungei Congkak Forest Reserve: Nice Little Campsite Not far from KL

by Wild_Orchid

Want to go camping?
But don't want to drive too far out of Kuala Lumpur or Petaling jaya?
Why not consider a night or two out at Sg Congkak Forest Reserve?
It is a forest reserve that is run by the Forestry Department.

Bring your own camping gear and set up tent at one of the six Campsites available.

We stayed at Campsite Zone No. 5. There are raised cement platforms for your tents and shady areas all around, with a nice bit of river, just for you and your group.

With a bit of pre-arrangement, the people who run the canteen at the park can also arrange to prepare food for your very own BBQ! A large BBQ pit is available but you have to bring your own charcoal and other stuff.

The river is at your doorstep, clean air, cold clear water to bath in, BBQ pits, stools and tables hammered out of stone, what else would you need?
I hear you ask: "How about toilet facilities? or will I have to do it in the river..."

My answer: "Read the next tip." ^ ^

Useful Resources for happy campers:
The Department of Forestry's website has more details- but it is in Malay. The English version of the same website doesn't have the same amount of information. Sorry!

Sg Congkak Chalets: Immerse yourself in Nature

by Wild_Orchid

Basic chalets are available at Sg Congkak. Some are one bedroom and one bathroom, others are two bedrooms and one bathrooms and a few are dorm style.

All of them are fronting the river and have tv and beds. BBQ pits are out front and rough tables and chairs have been fashioned out of stone and concrete. We didn't stay, but I had a quick peek and there did not seem to be any furniture in the living room, because everyone was sitting on the floor.

You can spend all day in the river- playing, bathing or soaking yourself. You can also take walks along the path and learn about trees that grow within the nature reserve.

Although cars are not allowed into the forest reserve, those that rent the chalets are permited to drive their vehicles in. Only small vehicles are allowed in, due to the weight allowances of the various wooden bridges.

Caution: the word Chalet here should not be taken to mean a Swiss or European chalet! LOL
