Campsite Zone 5, Sungei Congkak Forest Reserve: Nice Little Campsite Not far from KL - Part II
by Wild_Orchid
Following on from the above, the answer to your burning question is "Yes, there is a toilet, but please bring your own toilet paper!"
The Zone 5 campsite is among the best in this forest reserve. Why do I say that?
Well, the other campsites (Zone 1 to 4) are rather close to the park entrance and there are more day-trippers nearer to the entrance taking up precious spots at the river.
Zone 5, by comparison, is slightly away from the crowds, and has a few good spots for bathing and splashing around. It is also close to Zone 6, which has a flat piece of field, where team-building activities can be held and games such as foot ball or a water-balloon fight could be played.
Why not set up camp at Zone 6 then, you may ask. Well, Zone 6 is further in, but the spot of river is not as good and rather shallow as compared to Zone 5. Also, it does not have as many mature, shady trees. It is basically a big field.
The picture here shows the toilet. Separate for guys and gals. Recently re-painted in a fresh shade of light jungle green.
Beware: Those squemish city types will still not like it. However, there is running water in the sinks and also from the tap outside, and the showers do work (there is no place to hang your clothings, so you'll just have to hang it over the dusty door frame) and finally, the toilets can and do flush.
If you have a group of fussy people arriving, best you pay someone to do a spot of cleaning before their arrival. Otherwise, you may expect tiny dead insects and muddy foot prints to be the order of the day.
I found it okay, and more than bearable. This is outdoor camping! hey guys, where is your sense of adventure? : ))
