The fastest way to get to Port Dickson from Singapore

by ericsin

Hi,

I needed an advice from some expert on the fastest way to get to Port Dickson from Singapore for a friend's wedding over the weekend. It so happened that I have a paper in the morning on the same day of the wedding dinner until 1pm and hope to reach Port Dickson by 6pm in the evening for the dinner. The venue is Admiral Marina. I was thinking of taking a cab from Singapore that can bring me to JB at Bugis area (Queen Street if I am not wrong). Will I be able to get a cab from the drop off point at JB (somewhere walking distance from City Square) and how much and how fast will it be from JB to Port Dickson?

Cheers
Eric

hi eric...

if you drive, it will take you about 3 and a half hrs from jbaru to pdickson... ie not getting into any traffic jam... so you can work from there... a taxi may take a bit longer but should not be more than 4 hrs if you chartered the taxi...

Travel Tips for Port Dickson

Swimming Gear & Beach Items

by yipsufen

Forget about bringing your bulky beach equipments like plastic ball, tubes and floats, cramming them into your car boot. You can buy all these from the stalls near to car park area. Kids will be spoilt for choices on all the floats with different shapes and sizes. However, they may not be of good quality.

Crabbing!!!

by sweetie_inc

The one and only thing that I enjoyed doing here is to catch crabs!!!

We managed to get 3 crabs in a day and the restaurant even cook them for us for free!! I had sweet & sour crabs for lunch!

Isn't it the most best thing???

The crabs were quite big and we caught them in the comfort of our very own chalet balcony!!

The renting of the net is abt RM$10 per day plus another RM$5 for the bait (sliced squid).

Avillion Village Resort

by mansionion

This can either be a must see activity tip or an accomodation tip.

The Avillion Village Resort could be added to the must see places in PD, even if its just for a short look-see visit. As PD's only resort build almost entirely on stilts, the ambience and view from its reception area to its resort is quite interesting. While here, check out the various displays of Negeri Sembilan culture and tradition stuffs scattered all over the resort, such as the bullock cart and the musical instruments for Cak Lempong.

Another resort on stilts is currently under cosntruction in PD but I doubt it will be as interesting as Avillion Village Resort.

"The lookout..."

Port Dickson it is...3 1/2 hours drive from Singapore. It's a small town. Not many interesting places to visit. I believe most people goes to the beach. There are water sports available. Can be pretty busy during public and school holidays.

Port Dickson - or PD in short...

"Along the Straits of Malacca..."

Port Dickson is a small coastal town along the west coast of Peninsular Malaysia... Situated on the Straits of Malacca, its beaches have long been a favorite with the populance from Kuala Lumpur, which is only about an hour's drive away... It is also the nearest beach to the Malaysian capital city...

The PD beaches are very popular in the 1960s and 70s but has lost most of its popularity due to the pollution and erosion of the beaches. The most popular public beach is at Teluk Kemang, some 17km from the town although there are public beaches along the way from the town.

For more information of the town, check out this site.
