Nearest hotel to the Port

by tanamay

Hi!

We'll be traveling from Dumai, Indonesia to Port Dickson. Go to LCCT for an internaional flight, then back via the reverse route.

What is the nearest hotel to the Port of Port Dickson?

In Malacca the nearest hotel to the Port of Malacca is very near (you just cross two streets and you can actually see the port from the hotel window) and am wondering if there is a hotel as near.

We found out that the nearest hotel to the Jetty is Le Paris-Costa Rica Resort & Apartment. You can see the tall hotel from the Jetty, ten minute leisurely walk (~600m) and around 15 min. walk to the town (supermarkets, oceanic mall, pizza, food stalls, bus terminal, stores, bank, etc. Hotel is ~140m in front of a catholic church.

Except for the beach and the pool, it is not lively, though.

The town seems to be dark & gloomy at night (or are we at the wrong side of the town).

There is a small, budget hotel in front of Oceanic.

Travel Tips for Port Dickson

Sea Sports in PD

by ogb4619

You can stop almost anywhere and try your hand at -
jet skis, wind surfing, banana boats, ocean water skiing, catamarans, power boats, canoeing, all sorts of sailing etc etc. You got the idea.

The best place in the Royal Yacht Club but you have to be a boatie to get in.
Most beaches and hotels have limited facilities; many private hirers have some facilities.
Shop around for prices. Sadly, there's a different price for foreigners so take at least 30% off the stated price and walk away if they don't reduce.

The Straits of Malacca are basically still water. It's only about 50km to Sumatra so there's no surf and there's a 25 metre low/high tide exposing all the rocks and sand bars and mud flats. No need to bring anything. There's plenty of private hirers.

Eat durians on the beach

by jenniferchin

There is nothing like having to eat something decadent (for me, its durians) on the beach. Love the feel of the sand beneath my toes and hearing the waters lapping up while savouring some of the best food and drink.

Try it !

Pantai Cermin

by mansionion

Pantai Cermin is located close to the Blue Lagoon but at the other side of the cape.

As compare to the Blue Lagoon, Pantai Cermin is not that beautiful, more so as it is located in a mangrove area. However, the quiet beach should be just nice for a relaxing picnic or barbeque with freinds and family.

Port Dickson - pure pleasure

"Resort...."

After a long haul flight the best thing to do is 'cool-down' and tune in to the local motion. PD has a protected long sandy white beach closer to KLIA than KL. There is not much to see apart from the beach which is okay. But beachy and balmy are a plus for relaxing. There are many resorts along the way and one of the great features are their stilt rooms located in the water!! Fantastic!! The pool was more inviting at all times than the beach.

"Retail...."

All malaysian provincial towns and locales of the bigger cities have the same characteristic centres. Low rise clorful, jumbled colonial shopfronts with homes above; and then a skyscrper..hotel, bank or whatever headquarters. PD is no exception...

Rekindling west coast memories.

I came to Port Dickson on two occasions only. The first was with my whole family stopping over before heading back to Singapore from PJ. I was only 13. The last time was on a retreat with my church. The first time I stayed at the Sirusa Inn and the second time was with the Ming Court Resort. I wondered if they are still around and how much PD has changed. Now I returned with my own family. LIttle daughter and slightly pregnant wife. There was no online booking for Sirusa Inn or the Ming Court Resort. Much expectation and much excitement over this "return" after more than 10yrs.
