I just came back 'camping' from Port Dickson.

I'm not sure which beach are you talking about (Batu berapa?). My family and I went to the beach near Seri Malaysia Hotel and set up our tent and BBQ there, few hours later some officer from PC city council came and told us that what we're doing is against the law. Then they showed us the notice board where they put the do's and don'ts. Tents shall not be erected. BBQ is okay as long as you bring in your own BBQ set (don't put the coal on the ground). Campfire is definate no-no.

Lukut Museum

by yipsufen

The museum gives an insight into Lukut's golden era as the capital of the tin trade. Visitors can discover artefacts from the Nassau shipwreck, a Dutch East India battleship which sank off the coast of Cape Rachardo (Tanjong Tuan) in 1606. Some artefacts include canons, porcelain and china wares, urns, coins, microscope, etc. It showcases the archeological finds of the area as well as the intriguing history behind the fort. You need to take off your shoes prior to entering the museum. On the upper floor are exhibits on weaving, textiles and farming tools.

After visiting the museum you can make your way up to the fort ruins. Only the walls and the wells remain. You have to cross the now dried up moat to get to the centre of the "complex". You can drive up there if you want to but it will spoil the fun of walking up from the museum. The ruins of the Lukut Fort, built in 1847 to protect the town's booming tin trade, is an interesting spot for history buffs. Other attractions here include the legendary `poisoned well', purportedly used to punish criminals in the ancient days.

History and archeology buffs will find this museum informative and satisfying. Nice thing is that it is free of charge! Photography is allowed here.

Everyday going through hectic life & stress is very tiring. That's the reason why, I have decided to take a break. Since I couldn't get any extra day off from work, I decided to go to Port Dickson. It was great to be away from home once in a while.
