Awana Kijal, Terengganu: Terengganu's best beach hotel with bad service

by drandy

Great location by the beach, clean sand and good cooling breeze.
However, surprisingly rude hotel staff with odd routine- checking out bed linens before guests check out.
Beds are too soft (presumably too old) - got a bad backache in the morning.
Breakfast- wide selection but mediocre quality, many items not replenished.
No free wifi- even wifi at lobby will be charged RM25.
Tips- go to KFC to have your meal, cheap- and complimentary wifi.
If you don't like fast food- go to Restoran Pertama Kijal, corner shop, reasonably priced (fixed price on menu) and relatively good Chinese food- no pork though.

LAYAR KENYIR ENTERPRISE: RUMAH BOT / BOATHOUSE

by chermile

iS GOOD ENOUH FOR THOSE LOVE THE MALAYSIA RAINFOREST & LAKE. HERE YOU CAN RELAX, FISHING AND WATCH ASTRO (PRIVATE TV CHANNEL). FORTUNATE IF THE BOATMAN GO FISHING AND BRING BACK WITH LOTS OF FRESH FISH (FRESHWATER-LAKE).

TOILET, KITCHEN..(YOU NEED TO COOK FOR YOURSELF AND PLEASE BRING FOOD), BEDS, TV..SUITABLE FOR GROUPING 5-10 PERSONS.

Kenyir Lake Resort: A quiet Retreat

by hassan_abu

The service sucks. First, you park your car at the "Welcome Centre" and there is nobody to welcome you there. You pick up a phone, and tell the reception that you are there, and you wait like 10 minutes for a buggy to pick you up to send you to the main lobby. And you have to carry your own luggage and put them in the buggy. The buggy driver is just a driver, that's it. He doesn't even have the courtesy to help with the luggages. Then, you arrive at the lobby, bring down your own luggage and wait at the reception to get you your room. After 15 minutes of waiting, you finally get a room, then wait another 10 minutes for the buggy to bring you to your room. Once, inside the room, you find out that your air-condition is not working. Then you wait 5 hours for the serviceman to fix it up. Once he's there, he opens up the air-cond, and leave again for the spare parts. After 30 more minutes, he shows up with the spare part and started repairing the god damn air-cond. All the while, you are in the hot, humid and mosquito infested room.

The place is nice, but I guess, the staff have a lot to learn about customer service

Tanjung Jara Resort Hotel: Village Style Hotel in Terengganu

by SLLiew

This is a beautiful hotel along the beach, resembling like a typical Malay village with tall coconut palms.

The traditional Malay style rooms and the individual chalets provide privacy and relaxing atmosphere.

Great place to stay if you can afford the budget.

Tanjong Jara Resort: Unmistakably Malay

by malbella

It was an 8hrs drive from singapore. Quite tiring for the driver thou. But the moment i stepped out of the car i was greeted with such wonderful smiles. I was attended by their bell boy and ushered in by the another hotel staff served with cold towels and refreshing welcome drink. Service is excellent for tg jara. we don't even need to go over the lobby counter to fill in our particulars but they come to us instead.

As we walking to our rooms with their satff providing us information of their activities and event that will be going on, my eyes wandered the luscious landscapes and nice architecture surrounding the resorts. They provide 3 types of accomodation, the Anjung Suite, which was a 2 unit side by side, Serambi & Bumbung suite have the same layout. Only thing Serambi (the word itself means patio) so its understood that there's a patio space. My stay was the Serambi, layout is spacious and bathroom size is like another bedroom size!

This is a place you may want to consider staying in as it's rich culture is seen and felt all over the resort. I would definitely come again.

Lucky us that we reached on a saturday because they were having, i believe its some sort of culture introduction to their guest introducing the activities of their ppl from 5pm to 6pm. Their staff gathered to play sepaktakraw, congkak, kompang...etc and they little huts preparing delicacies like cucur pisang, otak-otak (extremly delicious!), keropok lekor, lemang w/ beef serunding (must try!), apam balik. I must say that you try all food. The great thing is, delicacies are on the house. How sweet is that.

All rooms are facing the sexy beutiful tg jara beach ;)

Two numbers of pool. The horizon and the freeform. Spa village is nicely tucked with a beautiful landscape surrounding. Gym is fully equipped. Activities like going over to waterfall at Chemerong, cycling, diving and snorkelling. I may say they have almost everything here. A perfect place rest and relax.

Kapas Island Resort: Escapade in a beautiful island

by harish_mikael

This is one of many chalet and beach resort available in this beautiful island. To compare for a good stay in an island, i would say that this is a bargain of sort. As cheap as USD40 i would be able to get a chalet on my own with breakfast for 2.

It has a its own beach where you can go for beach snorkelling right in front of the hotel lobby and other amenities include a pool, a volleyball court and a restaurant that serve you fresh-cooked food.

It has a great view facing the sea and you will be able to get good amount of windy if you opt not to use your air-condition and ope up yr window!

budget hotel: half stay day at budget hotel

by yukisanto

If you are like most travelers, who return from the islands to merang jetty and terrenganu town and still have time to kill before taking the night bus, there is a budget hotel which you might want to consider. It's beside Ping Anchorage, a blue door. Go up the stairs to the second storey (they call it 1st level) to the reception. For a half day, they charge you RM40 for a 4 beds room or less for smaller room. Common toilet and dinning area. But the room is great for waiting out the time and resting before going on your way again. New, airconditioned, clean, even comes with a TV, standing fan and dresser table. Towels provided.
