Awana Kijal Golf, Beach & Spa Resort: The best amongst the 2 in Kijal

It was a pleasant stay... always!

Located by the seashore with an 18 hole golf course, this hotel has always been the better choice if not the best against the other hotels in the vicinity.

Service is good and the room rate comes with 2 complimentary breakfast. The standard room is either equipped with twin bed or a king size bed. TV with cable & local channels to spend your free time lazing around with a cup of tea or coffee as tea making facilities are available in each room.

They offer variety of food during meal times at its restaurant call 'Kampung Meraga Beris'. Its ranging from the local 'keropok lekor' to the fancy western pastries.

You are spoil for choices where you can opt to enjoy Chinese cuisine at Little Canton or straight to the Steak House for something different. If you are tired of the hotel food, walk down to the main entrance near the main road. There are some good restaurants here or just go for a finger licking good KFC!

This resort can brag about its beautiful swimming pool and the outdoor facilities & activities available.

Dont forget to visit the Taman Sari Royal Heritage Spa for a relaxing massage!

The GIANT CHESS board - check it out as you go down to the beach.

Its 7.6 km private beach - look out for warnings where the sea is too choppy for swimming though.

Awana Kijal Golf, Beach & Spa Resort: Awana

Awana Kijal Golf, Beach & Spa Resort is tucked away near Kerteh, in Malaysia's East Coast about 40 minutes by air from Kuala Lumpur.

This first 5-star resort in the state of Terengganu has a beautiful beach with its palm trees and beach chair along the shoreline.

The resort care to many outdoor activites like mangroove & river cruise, birdwatching, Turtle tour, durian trip, fireflies watching tour. Each tour priced from RM50.00 per adult.

This resort caters for total relaxation. Awana offers a memorable 18-hole championship golf course. Taman Sari Royal Heritage Spa, offering traditional Javanese massage and treatments for a rejuvenating spa experience.

The Awana Kijal Golf Beach & Spa Resort is set amidst 800 acres of grounds and is within a few steps to a 7 km sandy beach.

I like the room we got as there is a oval bath in the living room, I did not try the spa or golf though.

Awana Kijal Golf and Beach Resort: Only resort for miles after Cherating

My stay there is rather pleasant. The beds however are rather uncomfortable and they gave me a headache the next morning.

Unique rooms with a sliding window next to the bathtub so you can watch TV from the bathtub.

Strawberry Kijal Resort: An alternative to Awana Kijal

To outsiders, Kijal is always associated with the Awana Kijal Resort as for years, it is the only resort avaialble in Kijal. However, things are set to change when Strawberry Kijal Resort commence its commercial operations soon by the end of 2005.

Awana Kijal Golf, Beach and Spa Resort: Large Resort with something for Everyone

Good sized room with pleasing decor that seemed to be newly refurbished.
The windows needed a clean but it was only a minor problem. The view from the room was gorgeous-you could see the pool, the gardens and the beach front.

This resort appears to attract large groups and families.

The bathroom that also looked new & sparkling clean came with a good range of toiletries and had a sliding window that opened up to the room. You might enjoy the novelty of bathing in the tub while watching tv.

Awana Kijal Resort Apartments: These are not 5 star??!!?

The Awana Kijal Resort is a hotel by itself & reportedly costs a bomb to stay at per nite. Apparently upwards of RM200, but after seeing the place for the first time, especially taking into consideration it's ambience, IMHO I'd take my money elsewhere. 4/5 star rates for the amount of noise & the family based clientele it now attracts. If you want a quiet, restful getaway, this is not the place to be. It has quite a number of facilities though.

As it turned out the apartments are either privately owned service apartments or belong to some time-sharing scheme thing. Either ways it's under the Awana Kijal Resort management but seperate from the resort itself. It was a little beat up & certainly in need of a fresh coat of paint & some maintanance. Much quieter. I wonder why??

I had a steal on this trip, or thought I had because a friend works for a bank which owns the 2 apartments we were booked into. The apartments only cost us RM140 for 2 nites stay! No wonder it's so cheap!! LOL But all said & done, the interior was pretty decent & clean.

I wouldn't pay much more or stay here again if it wasn't for the company of friends.
