Kelab Golf Desa Dungun
by chiabh
The 18-holes par 72 course is rather flat, being by the sea, off the Dungun coast... The course is not exactly short playing to 6,021m from the blue tees, the Sura Nine plays to 3,050m while the Tenggol Nine 2,971m... The course is rather straight-forward with water coming into pay only in 5 holes... The fairways are of cow grass... Both fairway and greens are well maintained... Tee-boxes are rather shady and there is constant breeze from the sea making it rather cool... Holes #10 and #11 plays along the sea with the fairway separted from the beach by a public road.. The clubhouse has both man and lady changing rooms... There is also a small golfers terrance facing the swimming pool which is rather busy in the evenings... Note: The course is closed from 1.00pm to 2.00pm on Fridays for prayers...
Terengganu State Museum
by chiabh
The Terengganu State Museum (or aka Losong Museum) is located located in Kampung Losong – a typical Malay village famous for keropok lekor (a traditional fish snack)... Covering an area of 27 hectares by the bank of Sungai Terengganu, it is the largest indoor and outdoor museum in Malaysia and South East Asia...
Designed by Terengganu-born architect Raja Datuk Kamarul Bahrin Shah, the building itself is an architectural wonder... The architecture is traditional Terengganu with the main museum built on 16 stilts, like the typical Terengganu’s rumah bujang... The huge complex is made up of four blocks — housing the main museum, a maritime museum, a fisheries museum, four traditional houses and a landscaped botanical and herb garden... Indoors, there are 11 galleries with themes like textiles, custom, royal, weapon, crafts, historical, Islamic, natural resources, economic, petroleum and seafaring... Because of its huge area, planning the best route to take around the museum complex is necessary so as to avoid missing any of the displays...
The museum was opened by the late Sultan of Terengganu, Sultan Mahmud Al-Muktafi Billah Shah on April 20, 1996...
Terengganu State Museum

Technically, I have visited the Terengganu State Museum, but I have not explored the museum due to my limited time at Kuala Terengganu. I will surely revisit this place when I have more time. May be next time with my kids, where iPod, Notebook PC & CD players could be some of the exhibits in there by then.
The Terengganu State Museum Complex is styled in the traditional Terengganu architecture. The museum consists of four blocks housing 10 galleries. It incorporates a fisheries museum, also maritime museum which showcases the people’s seafaring past. (facts from brochures)
The Kampung/Bukit Losong where the museum located is "the place (origin)" for delicious keropok losong & keropok lekor.

Kuala Terengganu

Kuala Terengganu is the bigest town in the state of Terengganu also the state capitol. If you go there by car, you can explore the town easily just like what I did. I went to explore the Chinatown area to have my breakfast at the Hainanese Kopitiam and I realized that the local just newly renamed the town to Teng-Chia-Low which is a translation but a beautified one. I read from books that these Malaysian-Chinese in Kuala Terengganu mostly came from the Chinese island of Hainan, that was during the early days. Kuala Terengganu is built on the big river banks, therefore it has a long bridge to connect the two banks and in between has two tiny islands called Pulau Duyung Besar and Pulau Besar with inhabitants in old wooden fishing houses that worth a visit. The photo is me on one of the islands.
