Abdul's Chalets

We had to move down to Abdul's Chalets on our last night at Perhentian Besar because Tuna Bay Resort was already fully booked on that night. Abdul's is located on the same beach as Tuna Bay, about 2 minutes walk down the beach. Abdul's is a very cheap, basic option, good for backpackers traveling on a budget, and just providing the bare essentials at a low price. There is no hot water, no electricity between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m., no air conditioning, and only a side wall fan. Facilities are very minimal, and nothing in the way of style in the decor. Security is also not so good, so don't leave clothes out on the balcony or at the beach if you don't want somebody to take something. Also, beware of bedbugs! Price only RM 50 for garden chalet (does 3 small shrubs really constitute a garden?)

Good View and Good Food!

Located facing the Perhentian Kecil Island, Abdul Chalet is a basic wooden chalets that are suitable for backpackers and young travelers.

Located right on the beach, it provides a gorgeous view of the blue sea and the fishermen's boats passing by.

Room rates are between RM 50 to RM 80 per night.

Their restaurant also serves really nice local dishes such as fried rice, veggies and noodles.

On the beach, facing the sea

I was staying in one of these very basic wooden bungalows, directly on the beach, between palm trees, facing the sea.
As with most accomodations on Perhentian Besar: no running water, no electricity, just a power generator running in the evening until 10 pm. No food at Abdul Chalets, but there were some small restaurants in the neighbouring places.
I wonder if it is still like this or if some tourist development has arrived (I hope it didn't).
