Chalet Overlooking the Sea by bkoon Everything was fine. Just that we couldn't check-in until 1.30pm in the afternoon even though we arrived in the morning as it was the school holidays period and they had to follow strictly to the check-in time of 2pm so that they can turn around fast enough. Packages are quite affordable. Usually full-board. Visitors can snorkel just right in front of the resort. Beside the resort are Dive Centres. The beach front reception counter and restaurant. by backpackerbaby - very beautiful house reef, can go snorkelling right out of your room every day! - super friendly staff, especially the Malay ones - great food with a great variety, despite there is no market on the island, we ate lots of different dishes during our stay - nice rooms: all with air-con and a ceiling fan plus hot shower

Tuna Bay Resort looking out to the sea by dfactor Great bargain for your money. (Nope, I don't get commission from this resort.) The air-conditioned room is clean with attached shower. You can get all the drinking water you need from the restaurant. At RM350, my package includes 3D2N stay at the chalet (chalet looking out to the sea is an additional RM80), 2 breakfast/lunch/tea-break and dinner. The food is really really good. On top of this, it includes 2 snorkelling trips to the coral reefs! Staff is friendly too. My only complain is, there is no pressure from the shower. I think my unit is kaput. It worked intermittently! Apart from that, everything is heavenly. Saw some squirrels and an amazing flying foze by the beach. The flying fox has flaps between its front and hind limbs. Gliding/jumping from 1 tree to another! What a sight!
The resort is tucked in amid white sandy beaches and coconut trees. Jump right into the sea and catch hundreds of fishes swimming all over the coral reefs. My bungalow at Abdul Chalets by dabuwan I was staying in one of these very basic wooden bungalows, directly on the beach, between palm trees, facing the sea. As with most accomodations on Perhentian Besar: no running water, no electricity, just a power generator running in the evening until 10 pm. No food at Abdul Chalets, but there were some small restaurants in the neighbouring places. I wonder if it is still like this or if some tourist development has arrived (I hope it didn't).

my chalet :-) by jenniferchin I got a room in a 3-room garden view chalet. There were 2 single beds, a fan and a bathroom attached. Nice clean basic place. Will definitely come back here again.
Feels safe. Clean. 5 minutes away from the beach. Walking distance to anywhere on the Big Island, well nearly everywhere !

Tuna Bay Resort by dar76 For those who want a little bit more than just a basic chalet, they can opt for Tuna Bay Resort. It's a fairly new chalet complex situated at Perhentian Besar Island, which includes hot shower and air-conditioner in their list of amenities. Situated right on the beach, the chalets offer a breathtaking view of the clear blue sea and sandy white beach. There is also a nice snorkeling spot about 100 meters out from the beach so u can just rent the gear, swim out and enjoy the corals. The room rate is about RM 150 - RM 200 per nite. There are also holiday packages available for around RM 350 per person ( 3 days 2 nights ). Chalets' walkway by juliewong A not too bad resort with attached bathroom and air-condition. Albeit the satisfactory facilities, mosquitos were seen prying outside our room. Since we did not spend much time in the room, it wasn't really a hindrance to our holiday. Probably, we are just so used to mosquitoes even in the city centre. :) Only setback was that the resort does not provide freeflow of water supply and there were some rubbish strewn over certain parts of the compound.
Basic facilities. Good location. Theme: HotelPrice: US$40-80 » Currency ConverterComparison: about averageAddress: Pulau Perhentian Besar, 22300 Besut, Terengganu. Arwana Perhentian by dar76 This resort is suitable for those who wants to have all the facilities of a proper hotel. It's a huge concrete, multi-storey complex and is one of the newest in Perhentian. It's also suitable for families with children or big groups since they accept advance bookings. The room rates range between RM150 for a Standard Fan room to RM600 for an Executive Suite.
Arwana Perhentian offers pretty much what you would expect from a hotel. A large swimming pool, a wading pool for the children, a sauna and massage room, a dive centre, karaoke lounge and a biiliard/snooker room. However, the beach is not very swimable. Though the water is crystal clear, the seabed is littered with brown dead corals which makes it's quite dangerous for people to swim. During low tide, the view are not very appealing. It is definitely not suitable for children. Theme: HotelPrice: US$40-80 » Currency ConverterComparison: more expensive than averageAddress: Perhentian Besar Island

"Perhentian Island Resort" by dar76 For those coming with families, big groups or those who are looking for a quieter vacation, Perhentian Island Resort will be suitable for you. Located on Perhentian Besar Island, this resort has it's own private beach which is nice and sandy. The water is crystal clear and great for swimming as there not a lot of corals around. So it's pretty safe even for kids to swim in the water.
A little more high-range as compared to most accomodations on the island, this resort provides more facilities to it's occupants such as a swimming pool, a tennis court, 24-hour electricity, hot shower, air conditioning and karaoke. Thus, the room rates are also a lot higher which is in the range of RM200 - RM350 per night. However, they also offer holiday packages which can be a pretty good deal.
