Perhentian Besar Accommodation

Coral view Island resort is located in north east of Perhentian Besar and is among the big resorts in Perhentian. The other big resorts being Tuna Bay, Arwana and Perhentian Island resort. As stated earlier, all the big resorts are located in Perhentian Besar. Coral view Island resort is located just next to Perhentian Island resort and has a huge inventory of rooms. But only the rooms located next to the sea (family rooms) are really worth staying. Rest of the rooms are very cramped, very cluttered and dark. The Garden view rooms are just for namesake. There is no garden whatsoever. Nevertheless, we did happen to see other hotels in the Perhentian Island and Coral View appeared to be better than other hotels, except Tuna Bay Resort.
As I wrote earlier, I tried to book Tuna Bay Resort 3 months in advance (I wanted to travel in early August, hence tried to book in early May) but was surprised to know that there was no room available. Most of the people want to book Tuna Bay resort, because it has the best reviews among all hotels in Perhentian.

Unique Quality: We stayed at Sea facing Family Suite and except for the water pressure in the bathroom shower, everything seemed to be in order. The water pressure was worst than a trickle and even though we called the Hotel mechanic to resolve the issue, it couldn’t be resolved. We tried for a room change, but there were no rooms available. There is no power supply from the mainland to the Perhentian Islands and hence these resorts have to depend on power generation from Diesel Generator (DG). As a result, there are frequent power failures. But these power failures are of short duration and more show, during day time. The lights are very dim in the room. There are some garden rooms, which are perched up in the hill side. The approach to these rooms is well lighted but you will have to walk a long distance in order to reach the room. Hence I will suggest going for Family deluxe sea view room. If you are unable to find a Family deluxe sea view room, your next preference should be Family deluxe Garden view room, which comes at RM 250 per night. These rooms are also equally good, but they are not sea facing. They have the same facilities as Family deluxe sea view room.
I paid RM 280 per day for Family deluxe sea view room and I would recommend these rooms to anybody. My room number was 214 and the location is right in front of the beach, with a beach volley ball court next door. There are Internet kiosks in the hotel. There is also a souvenir shop in the premises and a shop for renting out snorkels, life jackets, fins and scuba diving equipments. The Hotel has a restaurant, where they serve morning breakfast, lunch and dinner. Our package didn’t include morning breakfast, but you can pay on the spot and have morning breakfast. They charge RM 20 for adults and RM 10 for child. The food is predominantly Malay, Thai, Chinese and Western. Be prepared for long wait for your food to come, once you place your orders, specially during dinner time. This is common to all restaurants in Perhentian Besar.
