Coral Redang Island Resort: A most laid back atmosphere
The Coral Redang Island Resort is located on Pasir Panjang. It is the second to last on the north end of the beach, and so has relatively less passers-by... although I could not say that any part of Redang had "heavy traffic" when I was there".
The hotel has a pretty laid back atmosphere, it seems to attract the kind of guests that want to chill, rather than those who insist on packing their days with lots and lots of activities. Having said that, I heard that the dive centre is one of the best on the island (I don't dive so can't tell).
Accommodation consists mostly of wooden chalets (detached or semi-detached). In our detached chalet, there was a huge bed, bathroom with hot shower (no bath), a fridge and ample space for your stuff. Oh, and it's air-conditioned of course.
The hotel has a restaurant (Matahari), a bar (Chicak) and a very nice swimming pool.
The grounds were very well maintained and the staff were really nice and friendly.
The only thing that I thought was missing was a place to hang out in the evenings. You could only sit around the bar where there were board games, other guests and staff, and a television. However I always felt obliged to buy a drink even though I really didn't feel like it. It was either that or your room.

Coral Redang Island Resort: Enjoyable and charming resort with good service
The surroundings is amazing, the beach is just outside your bungalow, the pool build in wood is next to the bar and restaurant. This is not a place were you go partying.. This is a place to relax and enjoy being alive.. If you are unable to relax here? well.. then I don't know where you could go ;)
Whilst visiting an island blessed with underwater beauty such as Redang it would be considered a sin not to participate in diving or snorkeling. Coral dive centre offers daily dive and snorkel trips.
Sea kayaks can be hired for an energetic paddle to one of the closer islets, or the untouched tropical jungle can be explored on a guided trek through to the other side of the island. However... we didn't... we preferred to stay on the beach and do a little snorkeling and we also wanted to stay close to our bungalow for our little nap after lunch :-)

Picture of our cabin on the beach... The only real problem we had was a rat who made his way into the room.
When I called the reception and asked for assistance, their response was: "Oh, don't worry, probably just a jungle rat.."
"Oh, a jungle rat ! Well, why didn't you just say so ??? Then, he must stay for brunch..."
Anyway, armed only with two dive flippers and half a bottle of red wine (for fortitude) I was able to fell the foul beast... (or at least shoo him out of the room...)
