3D2N all inclusive package in 2010

Best (5.0 of 5.0 stars)
by written on March 12, 2013

We were given a quad sharing family room during our 3D2N trip to Pulau Redang. Our package is inclusive of all meals, inclusive of 4 times snorkeling with the Marine Park ticket is paid for. The rate per person is RM398 at May, 2010.

Unique Quality: The managemant of the resort has plan the package well so the time for the tourists who come here are fully occupied.
The meals are all served in buffet style at the big dining hall located at the 1st floor above the main lobby.
We notified the staff about our choice of vegetarian food, it was well entertained and handled by the staff and the kitchen. After the 1st meal, the following meals, my wife have her vegetarian meal served to her nicely and just in time, all meals with no repeated dishes and they are all looked and tasted delicious. A merit to the staff and the kitchen, we have actually filled in the merit form too.

Best Seaview Room

Best (5.0 of 5.0 stars)
by written on May 6, 2008

I stay here for 4D/3N in a seaview room. The room is simple but clean, and have a very good view of the sea. I can even see the sea when i lay down on the bed.. how nice.... :-p

The jetty is just in front of the restaurant of Kalong, and right hand side of the jetty will be the dive center, and go on, is a whole roll of sea view room.. very convenience.

Talking about the food there, the food is fantastic, i get to eat different dish everyday, food is tasty, and the service of the staff there are friendly..you can get all kind of info that you need from the counter.

Only one thing, im not too confortable is the meal timing.. they do set a specific time for meal, breakfast 7.30-8.30am, isnt too early? i dont wake up that earlier at work.. :-p but of cause it is follow the dive schedule they have in the resort.. so.. we need to wake up that earlier anyway... just pitty those plp who came here to relax.. imagine waking up at 730 for breakfast, and go back to sleep... ha ha...:-0 healthy life....

Besides the diving, there are 2 trip of snorkelling everyday, you can just show up and go.. quite covenience.. and there are "Canno" for you to play with.. karaoke, mahjoong room, pool, darts, ping pong.. and more...

All in all.. this is a great place to relax and hang out with your loves one and ur frens...highly recommend oh!

A pleasant stay in Kalong

Best (5.0 of 5.0 stars)
by written on May 1, 2008

Kalong is especially good for divers, given its professional diving center, but also a wonderful place for non-divers. My girlfriend and I spent a 4-day there. We get a room with seaview for about RM1000 and it is quite value for money. The staff there is very friendly and the food is quite up to standard. On top of all necessity that the resort provides, they have all sorts of recreational facilities (although frankly, you would hardly use them after two exciting snokelling trips), ranging from indoor games, such as mahjhong, KTV, games, pools, to outdoor games, such as canoe (yeah, it feels so great to sail on the sea), beach volleyball, etc. Basically, everything is perfect except for sands. Sands on the beach of Kalong is not as good as Laguna. The beach where Kalong is located is full of corals while the sands on the beach in front of Laguna is super fine. But anyway, beaches are open to everyone and you can visit Laguna's anytime so why pay more? By the way, for non-divers, Kalong is offering 4-day Open Water Diving Courses for about RM4000 only. My girlfriend and I are thinking of taking that course next time when we visit Redang.

Unique Quality: Seaview room is awesome, much better than Laguna's due to the closeness of the room to the beach. Staff is friendly and you can get personal attention to your every small request. The diving course is definitely another attractive point.

A Small Resort Big On Privacy

Best (5.0 of 5.0 stars)
by written on May 2, 2007

The accommodation is based on twin or triple share. There are 39 "no-frills" rooms (no tv or fridge in the room) with attached bathrooms, hot showers and air-conditioning which is available 24 hours. Choose a sea-view room and you'll get a wonderful scenery of the beach and the sea at about 50 metres from your door-step. The standard rooms however, are facing the back of the sea-view rooms so, no scenery there!

Buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner feature a mixture of Asian and Western dishes. A BBQ dinner will be served on alternate days. There are free-flow of toast, coffee/tea and juice (which is actually cordial) so you rarely get hungry at Redang Kalong.

The itinerary of my package is as below:
Day 1 - Pick up at Kuala Terengganu Airport or bus terminal and transfer to Merang jetty. Depart to Redang Island by boat. Upon arrival, check-in, the time is already 11:30am. After lunch, snorkelling to a specific site (by boat), tea time then dinner.

Day 2 - Breakfast, snorkelling to a specific site (by boat), lunch, snorkelling to Marine Park (by boat), tea time then BBQ dinner

Day 3 - Breakfast and transfer back to Kuala Terengganu (check-out time 9:00am)

All in all, I enjoyed my short stay at Redang Kalong Resort. The view is magnificent, the room is clean, the staff are friendly, the food is good and the location is ideal. What more could I possibly want?

Unique Quality: Due to its location on Pantai Teluk Kalong, Redang Island, Redang Kalong Resort is the only resort on this location with the privacy of its own beach.

Relax and Dive at Redang Kalong

Great (4.0 of 5.0 stars)
by written on April 17, 2007

This resort strikes a nice balance between the upscale pack'em in hotels to the north (pasir panjang) and the basic a-frame dive stays to the south (teluk kalong). The price seemed to strike the same balance. We snorkelled twice a day but by the end of our stay we found that the local reef in front of the resort was our preference plus it avoided the long boat ride to the other side of the island and we could swim/dive at our own pace. It is a bit of a swim to reach, but worth the effort. Food was OK, I can think of anything memorable about it, but the roti canai at breakfast was a nice treat, but no curry with it? If I ever go to pulau redang again, this is where i'll stay.

Both the on island staff and the onshore staff of the resort were always very helpful though not always the most friendly characters I've met. And I paid for the resort provided transportation from KT to Merang Jetty but could have saved a bunch by taking the direct bus from KT to the Jetty. Also the boat ride to the jetty was very rough, me and the youngin' enjoyed it but a few of the passengers were on the green verge by the time we reached the resort.

Unique Quality: Rooms: the Rooms are clean and at least the air-con rooms were well sealed and relatively bug free. Our double room came with two towels, two bars of soap, two rolls of toilet paper but no shampoo. The baths are western toilet, toilet sprayer, shower and sink, all together asian style, clean and efficient. The oceanview rooms are a fall out of bed from the beach and the view is beyond nice.

Facilities: there's a large communal dining hall, a small bar (which seems to double as a disco at night.), a game room and table tennis area which are covered but not enclosed (no air-con). There are both a karoke room and a majong room w/air-con. Central to the compound is a large dive shop which is the center of the 4 dives and the two snorkelling trips each day. There is a splendid shower behind the dive shop to clean off whatever the ocean decides to attach to your skin. Each walkway is lined with faucets and each room has its own broom so there's never an excuse for sandy feet reaching the clean bed sheets (unless you have a 9 yr old).

Location: its on one sweet stretch of white sand beach and it appears that your place is the only one on the island, except for the curious blue and white plastic and metal framed rooms just to the north - they seem to be a someone's failed idea of a budget resort. A short kayak to the south will yeild three other spots just as nice with small resorts. And a quick walk to the north will put you in touch with thousands of other tourists on their respective pieces of paradise.

Since food is included I thought I should cover that as well. As noted above, nothing special, but I always found plenty to eat. If you don't like rice...well good luck. One of my travel guests doesn't eat rice (isn't that wierd) but still managed to keep from starving. The cooking crew was receptive to fixing something extra when what was left wasn't too appetizing.

Affordable stay

Great (4.0 of 5.0 stars)
by written on January 4, 2006

Last year, 2005 had been a great year for me after visiting this beautiful island. Please do not expect a lot of things to do while staying here..such as watching tv in your room coz there is none...Only available at the nice (kampung style/ penanggah) tv/ astro will be available...While you're here there will be 2 snorkling sessions per day..1 in the morning around 9 am & the other is in the afternoon around 2 pm...Advisable to stay for 3 days 2 nite, as for the 1st day upon arrival (usually in the morning) you will have a light morning tea...& after rest about 2hr, in the afternoon you will have your buffet lunch & an hour laterr its time for your snorkelling time....On 2nd day, after having ur breakfast you will be brought to the best snorkelling location ever, call the marine park...Entry fee is RM10 per person....Once there, get ready your google and start snorkelling as you will see the wonders of God's creation...such as the gigantic coral beneath you (size of a badminton court)....colorful school of fish...& if you're lucky you can see baracuda..Just ask your boat's attendance to get the fish comes out from its hiding place...
.If you're a person who cares on budgeting your travel, this is the place to make a stay..& suitable for newly married couples....Make a call to the resort first, & choose the package travel....coz it is value for money & you won't regret..:D
