Near Mosque

by kyoub about Concorde Hotel Shah Alam

A driver, courtesy of the hotel, picked us up at the airport and took us to the Condcorde Shah Alam in a mercedes. We arrived late at night and we were very tired so it was very appreciated.
Our room had a great view of the Blue Mosque and the busy street below from our window.
The Concorde Shah Alam is also near to the Bukit Cahaya Seri Alam Agricultural Park and other tourist attractions.

Travel Tips for Shah Alam

Tarzan of the Taman

by robertgaz

SkyTrex Adventure is located inside Taman Pertanian Malaysia (Malaysia Agricultural Park) in Shah Alam which is about 30-40 minutes drive from KLCC.

Mizzzthanggg recommended this elevated adventure where the fun in the forest never ends! Julien Repellin, the Director, is a good friend of hers and he turned out to be thoroughly professional and dedicated instructor. Julien built the entire course himself over a period of some eight months.

He built an adventure course where you can challenge yourself to a series of obstacles through the tropical tree tops and is elevated between 3 to 17 meters above the ground.

You basically move from one tree to the next one by balancing over swinging rope bridges supported by steel cables.

There were also a few flying foxes along the way including the final one which was about 100m long. This one really zipped along! And if Julien gets to fulfil his dream of constructing the world's longest flying fox of 3km's, you will get to fly at around 165km's per hour. Bring it on Julien!

The entire course takes around 1 and 1/2 hours to complete during which your feet never touch the ground. It's completely safe as long as you follow the basic instructions and always keeping yourself harnessed.

A GLIMPSE OF SHAH ALAM

by pres_16

SHAH ALAM, Selangor's capital, has the distinction of being a well-planned township which harmonises nature with modernity. Here, residential areas and commercial centres are set amidst lush landscapes and a sprawling lake. Away from the urban centres, refreshing scenes of rural villages and serene coastlines begin to unfurl.

Shah Alam in Selangor State, Malaysia

by myspices

"Quiet, residential area"

Shah Alam, the place I call HOME, was formerly a satelite town before it became the Selangor's state capital. It is about 20km from Kuala Lumpur, the capital city of Malaysia. Being away from the city centre, Shah Alam is more of a residential area than a busy township - it is considered the centrepoint between Kuala Lumpur and the big towns of Klang and Port Klang.

Shah Alam is kind of divided into 2 sections : the residential area and the industrial zone. I am staying around the light industrial area. Besides being famous for its "Blue Mosque", Shah Alam is famous for the many roundabouts found here. Many claimed that they are actually lost because there are too many roundabouts......

Many feel that Shah Alam is a resident place consisting of mostly the Malays, which is untrue. It is a home for multi races of Malays, Chinese and Indian.

Shah Alam has its own beauty - it has many parks and lakes and the quietness of the place and traffic free roads are the envies of the other townships like Petaling Jaya (PJ), Klang and Kajang. Living here is practically hassle free. Many government offices are situated in Shah Alam - the State Secretariat Building and the Immigration Office. It has many medium-sized malls and a couple of big hotels. Currently three giant hypermarkets are located here : Makro, Giant and Tesco. The authorities are debating on whether to open up a cinema .

The attractions in Shah Alam are :-
1) The Blue Mosque - Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Mosque
2) Stadium/Go Kart tracks
3) Shah Alam Lake Gardens
4) State Monument and State Secretariat Building
5) Dataran Shah Alam - Shah Alam Square
6) Museum Shah Alam
7) Agricultural Park - Bukit Cahaya Seri Alam

"Many parks and lakes .."

Great place to have picnics and spend time with children. Lots of play things in the playground in the park - swings, see-saw and slides. Some parks you can hire boats to ride on.

"Malls, Dataran (Square) and Government Offices"

The Dataran Shah Alam (Shah Alam Square) is nearby to shopping mall and bistros and eateries. Youngsters hot place to hang out. Far end , you can see the State Secretariat Building
